After leaving the Met for the sleepy Devon town of Shipton Abbott, DI Humphrey Goodman quickly makes an impression on the local police force - DS Esther Williams, PC Kelby?Hartford and Office Support Margot Martins - as he investigates a reported assault with a very unusual prime suspect: a seventeenth-century witch.
Humphrey's got his work cut out at home too as he tries to impress Martha's mother Anne, whilst Martha looks for premises for her café business.
