A little help with a torrent problem I am having?

not sure where to put this, but a lot of people here seem pretty nerdy, so maybe
i can get some help.

about 2 weeks ago, i can't remember what i did, but my azureus downloads started
to become really slow. i have check the azureuswiki and it did help but here is
the problem.

when i am downloading, seems like for the first 30mins/2 hours of the torrent
starting the download, its like azurues itself caps my speed at 40 kb/s(with
simultaneous downloads it will add to get 40) but after a long while it will go
all the way up to 300 kb or more.

has anyone ever seen this problem, like i said, i checked the azureus wiki, did
the nat problem, set my settings properly, port forwarded, i am really not sure
what step to take next.

ok giving that a try at 500, i get sometimes about 450

now my dl is at 60 kb up from the 40 kb cap it was at an hour ago, it will
probably shoot up within the next half hour, but i want to avoid this long ass wait

by chance do you have your upload set too high

eg

if your connection allows 30k up max

and you let az use all of the 30k for upload, it chokes the outward requests
for another piece of the torrent.


solution, only let your client use between 50% and 75% of your physical
allowed upload speed.

75% is a good amount unless you "have a trojan" o_o.

looks to me you attract to more seeder when you have a good upload ratio. it
may be my imagination playing trick on me again.

well my share ratio is above 1, and i set my upload to about 51kb, since my max
is about 70-80

hello? i'm new to this whole torrent thing and am trying hard to figure it all
out! my main problem right now is that really basic (to everyone here, i'm
sure!): what i've done so far is click on a show link, download that then open
up bit torrent and open the just downloaded file in that. is that the right way
to do this? it seems really complicated and also, i keep losing what i've
downloaded - i've successfully downloaded an episode of housewives twice and
don't know where the hell it's gone! and some i've downloaded i can't watch on
my divx player while another one i can - what am i doing wrong?! and please
don't say everything!

i still think ur having probs with your acks, but to clarify ... you say u
usually get a max download of about 300+ but ur max upload is approx 70kb
(which u have set at 51kb)?

even with my 8mb connetion i can only do a max upload of 35kb, which i set
manually to between 22-25, depending on my mood. unless ur on some high upload
plan(? :s), i'm of the mind your upload is set too high.

agreed, but i got another 2 computers on the network also trying to surf the
net the same time so i gotta giv them some room too lol. not to mention the
upload ping war implemented by my isp between 6:30pm and 10pm almost every
night.

no i am quite certain of my connections capability. but luckily my i think all
it took was a hard reset of my shitty router. i had been having problems with
it breaking down(all lights on it turned on every hour and that means no
internet working) so i unplugged it for an hour and i havent had the light bs
problem in 2 days and my torrents speeds are back to normal
