ok so i have been downloading and seding here for awhile ... i use
utorrent ... everything was working fine 200kbs+ ... 3 days ago i noticed my
speeds were lagging badly 50+ if im lucky ... so i went to a dsl speed testing
place .... says my download should be around 310 .... called my internet
company and they also had me run a test from their site ....300+ there ... so
now im stuck into figuring out why my downloads wont go over 50 ... any help
or suggestions would be awesome and thx in advance 🙂

my first advice is to wait around 36-48 hours after a torrent is released and
try then, when there are a lot of seeds and not all that many peers. that will
at least take out of the equation the possibility that the seeds are overloaded.

if you still get slow speeds on those torrents, ensure that you have encryption
enabled - perhaps your isp has started trying to throttle torrent traffic.

those would be my first two steps.

also try throwing them a curve ball by switching the port you use..

there are numerous other reasons and fixes..
but it would take all day to list them all...

i have done both of the above.... i did notice something today thou.... if i
only download one thing at a time and it has alot of seeds ... i can get up to
150 ... problem is once it hits 150 the connection completely drops out to 0
then starts over again to 150 then drops... really really weird ... i also
tried the tcp stack optimzer ... now my upload is full blast right away but
takes forever to download ... sorry im being such a pain in the ass guys
lol ... its just i cant really ask my isp if they are blocking it ya know 😛

you should be limiting your maximum speeds anyway !...

limit both, your global maximum download and upload speeds to about 75-80% of
their true maximums.. (i get away with 85% just fine personally)... you are
likely choking your connections..

this is covered in just about every torrent faq on the internet.. you should
have already known this..
i suggest using the utorrent client... and going to the utorrent site and
reading the entire faq there in detail from top to bottom.. learn all those
little intricacies for what settings to tweak... figure out how to work it on
your own so that you dont have to ask stupid questions at a forum.
and when you're done reading the faq there... read it again!..

wow ... who peed in your cheerios elistian? for one i do use utorrent as i
stated in my post but evidently u missed that ... second i do limit my torrent
download speeds to 250 since i have a 3-6mbit connection and it has always
worked fine before ... third as u see when i got the first suggestions i had
already had those settings so yea i have read the faqs over and over
again .... forth the only stupid question is the question not asked. so if u
are going to be a smarta$$ or sarcastic do it somewhere else. my 5 year old
has more manners than u ... didnt u learn its not nice to be mean to women?
anyway off with u now go try to make someone else miserable!

n3l87 i use a 2wire modem which is a modem/router and its about 4-5 years old
my upload is 40 max and i have set the limit to 20 snd i do get a slight
increse when i limit it ... im starting to think maybe my modem has had its
last day ... i think i might get a new one and see if that changes things as
it was acting funny right before it stopped downloading right ... thank u and
everyone else it was much appreciated ... even with the sarcastic remarks from
elistian ... reminded me that there are still a$$hole people out there!
