why do you post in a show that you don't like? arn't these little message
board discussion type things set up so that fans may discuss they're own
preferred shows? surely not to trash a show that thousands watch world wide. i
know for a fact that the new doctor who is quite popular in australia (i'm
australian) and i know a number of americans online that are fans. so they
occasionally make an ep that not everyone likes, personally i enjoyed this
episode, it was light hearted and kinda funny.

atleast it's not the oc or some rubbish of the same ike. also, there is
nothing wrong with torchwood. it's a good show that perhaps is aimed at a
little more "adult" audience then some of you.

if you don't like the show then don't watch it and don't download it. i don't
even look twice at the shows that are listed that i don't follow. why would
you? if it's not something that your interested in then don't even click on
it. get a life people. get a life.

it has certainly been hit or miss since the show's return. there have been some
exceptional episodes and also a lot of monumentally crap ones. the show could
be fixed by doing the following.

1) replace russel t davis with stephen moffet as the executive producer. this
would fix most of the writing problems

2) destroy the sonic screwdriver. it's being used with the versatility of a
magic wand and not as a handy tool. the concern that it was being overused is
why they got rid of it in the first place.

3) more stories off world. the tardis can travel through space and time, surely
we can do better than having 75% of the stories set on the same planet.

4) replace catherine tate, sorry to her fans well not really. she overacts the
scenes, irritates the hell out of a lot of us and the less said about her
chemistry with the doctor the better.

5)more intelligent writing. have the doctor solve problems with his brain and
give us a little more science like we had in the original. also getting a
sci-fi fan to proof read the stories for stupid plot holes wouldn't hurt.

i could go on but these are the main points that need fixing.
spaztard Posted at 19/05/2008, 06:25
i thought it was a cute, quirky episode . that said, i wouldn't mind a return
to some of the more darker themed stuff, replace rtd!!!
Kelderkeuken Posted at 19/05/2008, 12:57
it's not sci-fi? care to explain that brainfart?

well with your track record of producing successful tv shows i'm sure the bbc
will take notice, you do have a track record of producing successful tv shows
right?
wizenwolf Posted at 19/05/2008, 13:50
people say it is none of my concern and tell me to stop posting... but i live in
england. i pay my tv license which pays the bbc to make this wank show. it is ok
for all of you around the world to say "zomg get a lyfe" because you are
essentially getting it completely free. but i (and the population of britain)
are funding the bbc and encouraging them to write this crap and keep it on air.

the only good things from the bbc as of late are life on mars and spooks. they
are popular around the world for good reason.

now some of you may argue that its "made for the kids" ect but i have noticed
that most people on these forums (and people in the real world) are infact
geriatrics who don't care about the plot because it is reminiscent of their past.

for frak sake bbc please invest our money on something that appeals to more than:
-kids who do not know better and accept boring and predictable plots.
-oldies who watch it because it reminds them of the glory days.

i rest my case.
Kelderkeuken Posted at 19/05/2008, 15:21
fair enough.

i still think torchwood is a lot worse, so was robin hood. i enjoyed primeval
again this season. jekyll was even better i think. life on mars is awesome, but
more detective than fantasy i'd say.

Grimm Gnarly Posted at 19/05/2008, 18:03
wizenwolf- that's a case?

i'm pretty sure if dr who didn't get the ratings it does it would be cut as you
would love it to be. but unfortunately for you it does get the ratings it needs
to continue. boo-hoo. cry all you want for paying taxes for a show you don't
like it won't make that show disapear. i'm sure people all over the world
understand that when they pay taxes not everything bought with those taxes will
be things they like. i guess you haven't learned that yet...

i personally don't love everything that rtd writes but i do understand that
without him dr. who would not have been brought back, and for that he has my
thanks.

as for torchwood- i have to admit i like it. its campy and pretty predictable
just like dr who. its a lightweight sci-fi, a bit of comfort food. some don't
like the "gay stuff", i don't really care. neither torchwood or dr who are
anything like another sci-fi show i like (bsg) but i like them all for different
reasons and it seems that many share my opinion.

thank you wizenwolf! thank you so much for paying your mandatory tv tax thus
making torchwood and doctor who possible for the many downloaders here to watch!
i am sure that without your tax money none of it would be possible!

again, thank you wizenwolf!

sadly for your argument wizenwolf i also live in the uk, pay my license fee,
and enjoy doctor who, as apparently do millions of others. yeah i'm old enough
to remember the original but i judge the new version on its merits, which in
my opinion far outweigh its faults. maybe you should just switch over to ant &
dec on itv, or if you want the bbc to do something like battlestar galactica
don't bitch the next time they put up the license fee.

for anyone wanting to complain about doctor who, i have one
thing to say:
download the 1996 movie! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116118/
that right there is a prime example of a bad doctor who "extended" episode....

sure, every one of the seasons since 2005 has had a number of bad eps (generally
the ones written by rtd) but in a rounded view of the show, we all still watch
it for the good episodes, the story arcs, the comedy etc.

download the move and then tell me, using sound reasoning, that you can find a
doctor who episode that sucked worse than the movie did. i highly doubt anyone
can reasonably argue that the show's bad episodes are worse than the movie
was.

it was bad because the yanks got their hands on something they didnt
comprehend...whats new?

now that was an awesome series, life on mars...wait for the bastardised fucked
up version from the yanks..always wanting to fuck someting good up haha

i agree , this is fantasy / comedy..there isnt a fucking element of science in
this drivel like their used to be. sonic vibrator and a fat chunky bitch, who
should go back to her own pathetic show. she cant fucking act, and we are forced
to pay for this shit with our licenses...the only criminal thing here..is the
twat who thought up the license.

ratings are you retarded? this has nothing whatso ever to do with ratings, this
is to do with an institution. just like star trek is. doctor who is really made
for bbc america..and the american audience, the amount of money these greedy
fuckbuckets the bbc make is astronomical, now ask yourself again (there'd be a
public outcry if doctor who was only available to bbc america or wherever
outside of the uk and not on bbc1..further they arent going to sell the concept
that makes them millions of

before whitephoenix comes on announcing his amazing presience i would point
out that todays announcement about rtd had been on the cards for some time.
