i just want to say thank you for everything you do. you've allowed me to watch
the only 2 shows i've ever wanted to see, lost & 24, as they've aired... for 2
years now.

you've made me very very happy, without fail (apart from the april fool's joke,
which was funny.. ish.. 🙂)

but thank you, genuinely.

i see no harm in the thank you messages ... tho maybe there should be one
thread stickied for such a purpose. i know when i first came here all i could
do beyond seeding was say thanks, and i added my appreciation to a thread
started way back when. as new members join they also want to express their
gratitude and i think that is fair enough.

so i'll take the opportunity to say again ...

obviously there is no harm in saying thank you. but the converse is also true..
there's no harm in not saying thank you as well. it's like the old adage.. true
gratitude is in the deeds, not the words. action speaks louder than words.

boils down to this. you have the genuine users who are truly grateful and
choose to express it by saying thanks. although i will contend, adding their
country of origin negates their genuity because they've brought in pride,
arrogance, and a host of other self-centered ideals into the mix.

and then.. you just got the trolls who overdo it way too much. like that one
guy who said thanks for every flash gordon ep or something heh.

the best situation would be this. be thankful, but keep the simple posts of
"thanks from thailand" and the like to yourself. if you have to post it,
perhaps attach some more snippets of wisdom and entertainment that at least
makes the post worth reading? in any event.. getting back to the ideal
situation. be thankful definitely but don't need to say it literally. instead
seed and support the forum by contributing intelligently or sometimes
sarcastically.. comedically even to the threads.
