MVGroup Tracker Problems

anyone else having trouble with the mvgroup tracker?

while downloading
bbc.life.in.cold.blood.2of5.land.invaders.xvid.ac3.mvgroup.org
bbc.life.in.cold.blood.3of5.dragons.of.the.dry.xvid.ac3.mvgroup.org

it keeps saying that this tracker
http://www.mvgroup.org:2710/announce

is down. first it was just timing out but now it says hostname not found.

anyone else having problems with this tracker?

edit: can anyone even get to http://www.mvgroup.org is there web browsers? i
cant even ping it. not sure if its just on my end.

nope, i can't get to it either. i get a dns error when i try to load it. i
currently have 2 torrents from mvgroup downloading and they are only doing so
because i have dht enabled and other people in the swarm have the whole file.

i have dht on and 1 of the bbc shows does seem to be downloading but both of
the bbc.life.in.cold.blood episodes im downloading wont download at all, both
are at 0% and have been for 3 hours.

does this mean i'll need to repackage the torrent files with a new tracker?

i'm a seeder of the worst jobs in history series 1.

they are looking into it... hopefully it will be operational again soon.

i was afraid their tracker might not be able to handle the additional eztv
load that would inevatably hit their servers. hope they can get it sorted
cheaply and quickly.

it's not the tracker getting overloaded, it's a problem at the datacentre.

hopefully it will be sorted shortly.

i dont see why they dont just include a list of the standard trackers eztv
use's in there torrents as well as there own.

agreed. why not include the standard trackers as well?

well we weren't expecting a problem to occur, and the problem we are facing
seems to be one of a reseller not paying his bill to the datacentre even
though we have paid him.

when the site/tracker returns i'll put the idea of additional trackers to the
others and see what they say.

im an avid fan of the docos brought to the interwebs by mvgroup, so firstly
thanks for making the downloading of doco torrents as reliable as eztv. 🙂

secondly, just curious as to why many of the mvgroup torrents do not allow
dht? you may find this will take some of the load off your tracker if you
allow the use of dht.

anyway cheers and thanx again for the great work you do there at mvgroup. 😉

we used to use dht on all torrents, but a decision was reached to remove dht
as a security measure, i was in retirement at the time and don't know the full
ins and outs of the discussion and decision. it is something that may be
raised once we are back online, along with the addition of trackers to cover
any eventuality.

personally i think the advantages of dht outweigh the disadvantages.

and what are the security threats posed by dht ???

if you want to download the recent mvgroup shows before mvgroup.org is back
online, you have to manually add the eztv tracker after you have started the
download. the torrents are added to the eztv trackers, but the tracker is not
included in the .torrent download. the tracker is
http://eztv.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce . in utorrent,
right-click->properties and paste the tracker above.

like i said earlier, if i knew the exact reasons i'd give them. it would seem
that we now have access to our backup server and hopefully we'll be able to get
the datacentre to get the main server back online soon as well. as i know more
i'll post here.
