as someone who's read the series is based on, it's certainly refreshing to see that this is a pretty faithful
adaptation. the banter is excellent, and it's worth a watch for that alone.

it's good if you don't expect anything but what it is. a bit old fashion
perhaps. but though i haven't read the grafic novels the show is very cartoonish
and i belive in the spirit of the author. a lot more lighthearted then the other
comics out there.

just don't take it seriously.

yeah that's the impression i got.. a bit old fashioned.. looks kind of low
budget too. i'll watch a few more episodes to make final decision on this
series. overall, not impressed that much.

absolutely superb. the writing feels like a cross between whedon and brian
fuller, with a fuller-esque world of cartoonish sets. the banter is top-notch,
with some lovely plays on swearing, etc.

certainly lacking in budget, but the giant scientific laboratory was really
nicely done.

just finished watching it. it's stupid, campy, and a complete rip-off of "men
in black", mixed with "dudley dooright".

i loved it.

but, unfortunately, i just don't see the masses watching it, so i give it ten
episodes (max) before it's cancelled.

here's to hoping i'm wrong about that.

well actually the show is quite decent, a bit like dr. who to "some degree" so
yea not bad at all..

it's a strange show, but it's trying for a really unusual audience-- the people that want to watch a series
on abc family, but also want a show that is rated tv-14 (with additional violence and dialogue warnings).

also there was some wonderful unintentional comedy. when the show returns from a break, the little abc
family bug adds in their new slogan, "a new kind of family." there is something great about seeing that
family-friendly logo over a woman dressed in a sexy jungle girl outfit pole dancing for a gorilla.

keeping in mind what was said up-thread about someone from lost being involved in the comic, if you
don't mind something lower budget that's a little campy, it might be worth the download. it's not like
there is tons of new stuff to watch now.

oh, i really like the banter between the main girl and the guy with the guitar that seems to be always
outside her apartment.

just an update of my original post.

i enjoy reading comics and to my surprise, i'd already downloaded this series in
part and had it available in the "to read" pile.

needless to say, after having read the first issue of the vol. #1, this show was
almost a shot for shot remake of the book. what i initially thought to be bad
cgi on the part of the monster in the opening sequence was in fact the monster
from the comics. they made it look better in many ways to my surprise.

also, the dialog that i enjoyed before is pulled right off the page. in essence
they used the original books as storyboards and adapted it straight.

not sure exactly if this revelation makes the show better or the comic is just
okay to begin with, but seeing the source material, on the budget that they had
to work with, i'm starting to think that whoever shot this did a good job.

your mileage may vary, and the real test will be when they stop adapting and
start churning out original plots... but for know knock my "b to b-" to a "b+"

it's a bit weird to be hassled for using a text forum to ask for someone's
opinion. isn't that what forums (or fora) are all about?

hqh.
tvzouille Posted at 17/06/2008, 13:25
not for me, boring, hate it, time wasting, beuuuuuuuurk

God Posted at 17/06/2008, 13:42
