sounds like someone should stick to reality tv.
watch survivor or bigbrother if you cant get past how in television dramas there
is a need to stereotype a character to some point.
there's never a need to stereotype. even so, stereotyping was the least of this
show's problems. it was written poorly. it was the dialogue. the characters
speak their entire life's synopses as soon as they're introduced. it's pulp
crap. there's no subtlety. even swingtown has more subtlety, and they've got the
breadth of 70's culture to fling around willy nilly.
i've seen survivor and big brother, thanks. "reality tv" is irony incarnate. the
scripts on those shows are just as bad.
i might suggest that you watch the wire or mad men if you thought this show
was any good. it will ruin your taste for bad tv forever. or how about dexter
for pushing the comfort envelope. if i completely "get" the characters before
the first season is over, much less the first episode, something's definitely
wrong with the writing.

pretty handsome is pretty not bad. a very good cast, well acted and written. the
show description does not do it justice. this show is not about transsexuals
just as nip/tuck is not about plastic surgery. it's about the stuff we keep to
ourselves and how we deal with them while trying to maintain our public image
living up to others expectations. each character has something going on.
those who knock the show before they see it, wouldn't like it anyway. they
should stick with the shows they know. the ones about a family with 3 kids and a
dog where everything works out ok in the end and every second line is a punch
line signified by a laugh track and has a name like "who's the full family pains".
the ones who like to think about what they're watching should give this show a try.
file quality is excellent also.

watch it before you trash it, this is one of the best shows i've seen in a
while, quality actors and quality acting. this show brings up issues similar to
nip/tuck that some people (see most of the first page of posts) might not be
comfortable with.

watched it and appreciated it's finer points, but as an episode it didn't really
grip me. i'd watch a second episode just to see whether i was wrong, but i can't
see this being "must watch" tv.

watched it, this is just a bad huff with blythe danner as the uptight, rich
mother again. the rest of the cast were not likeable enough to watch.
