1. drilling in anwar would take up no more than 2% of the absolute baren land
that makes up most of anwar (ever see a picture? i didn't think so). also,
check the positive effect the alaskan oil pipeline had on the environment.
animal life actually improved as animal populations increased!!!
2. global warming is a farce. the temp of the earth has not increase a single
degree in the past 3 years!! the temp increase previous to that matched
exactly the temp increase of the sun (a whopping 1 degree).
3. polar bear populations have increased to the point where the simply do not
qualify to be on the list...by law!!!

overwhelming scientific consensus? what an utterly meaningless phrase.
scientists go where the funding is, and thanks to the politicization of climate
science, global warming is the 'in' thing now. there are a number of scientists
who do not accept human-caused global warming, they just aren't the cool kids
at the moment, so they are mostly ignored.
do you base all your beliefs on what the majority believes? scientists are as
gullible as any other group of people. like most people, they are guilty of
overstating what they know and of following their peers and heroes blindly.
carbon dioxide can contribute to global warming, but only a little bit. as the
amount of co2 in the atmosphere increases, it's effect on temperature decreases
logarithmically. so basically, there is a saturation point at which further co2
has little effect, and we are pretty close to it already. the hard numbers are
not known of course, just as very little in climate science is known. it's an
extremely complicated field, and all they have to work with are bad models and
guesswork. maybe in a few hundred years when they actually learn something
about the earth i will take notice.
until then, they ought to start focusing on protecting coastal cities from
rising sea levels. it's not that cutting co2 emissions is necessarily a bad
thing (though that can be argued...high co2 levels has its benefits, especially
on plant life), but spending billions of dollars on it is a waste of money
better spent elsewhere.
you are of course entitled to your belief in global warming, and that is
perfectly valid, but to write someone else off because they don't is ignorant
and close-minded.
ok, way off topic, so i'll shut up now.
great speech by obama (as usual). it will be a tragic day in america if he
doesn't win the election.

er... it's a speech and he's a politician. why is this historic?
americans will never figure out out a proportional system works. even if they
did, when somebody that they don't like wins, they'll try and sue by claiming
that the voting process was too confusing.
i don't really see how obama can do all that he says he's going to do - the
country is trillion of dollars in debt, not that anybody seems to have noticed.
ha, i love it how they spend so much effort impeaching some guy for getting a
blow job but this guy gets you into trillions of debt, blatently lies about 80%
of the stuff he says and gets found out, leaves thousands of his citizens to die
and doesn't help them after natural disasters and all the americans just sit
back and go "meh, whatever".

it's historic because:
1. it's a brilliant speech, regardless of whether you agree with his politics.
2. he's the first black candidate for president in the history of our country.
i really wish you guys in europe would stop grouping all americans together when
you talk about our politics and elected officials. by doing that, you're just as
bad as the rednecks and religious nutjobs who elected bush in the first place!
his approval rating is at 28%, so 72% of americans do realize what he's done.
the problem is that many of them aren't paying attention and realizing that this
"maverick" bullshit about mccain is just that.

you americans really have a weird sense for politics. from a german's point of
view this is seriously messed up. it all seems so emotional and guided by
personal feelings which is exactly what politics should not be. i have
absolutely no clue what the personal life's of our politicians looks like or if
angela merkel even is married. it simply doesn't matter if she fought in a war
or if she worships a pagan god. one should always make politics for the sake of
the people and not for one's own agenda.
and exactly this is how this feels to me: promoting barack obamas agenda not the
politcs which would serve the people.
don't get me wrong our politicians are worse, but this show is kind of frightening.

elitist lies. they guy is a scumbag puppet working for the benefit of big
business and the elite bankers. end of story. don't even seed this crap. you
