coming off the back of the writers strike, during which time there has actually
been the odd piece of stuff worth watching (the hollowmen, the middleman, etc,).

what are you looking forward to?

heroes is already looking derivative, sci-fi as usual, is folding on anything
even remotely interesting (yes i am a stargate fan), which leaves us, (after
caprica), with fringe. it's got some hollywood muscle behind it but i'd bet on
three seasons at best.

any takers?

the local shop has just got in a new brand of, rather tasty, vodka.

large quantities of vodka = random forum post.

it's always fun checking out the new season retardathon, i just felt the need to
contribute.

if it's long and hard then all the better.

things are getting out of hand on this forum now... pointless thread after
pointless thread. with each episode released, a new idiot rises from flames
to serve only as an example of "what not to do" in the eztv hall of shame. but
at least we are safe in the knowledge that redemption is on the way....

17.10.08.
much love.

a bloke down the pub told me that some fundamentalist xtians are expecting the
rapture to occur on 17/10/2008.

have to admit i almost pissed myself laughing at the idea of them all
disappearing up their own arseholes.

oh, sorry... was that out of hand? i suppose i should restrict myself to
discussing this weeks episode of, er, well, me getting drunk and posting about
nothing in particular.

at some point 2 and 2 will resolve themselves into something resembling 4.

december 2012.

ah, those funky mayans and their wacky apocalypse calendar.

is there any bunch of new-age, alien worshipping or religious nut jobs that
haven't leapt, grinning inanely, on the back of this particular bandwagon?

new years day 2013 there are going to be a lot of red faces, accompanied by the
resounding echo of laughter.

one of the benefits of retardation, disappointment barely registers. unless of
course you're waiting for a 720p release of lost.

well numaris, you're a beaming little ray of sunshine today aren't you?

i was perfectly happy, bordering on whimsical, but now i feel a trip to the
off-licence coming on.

well that's my excuse, and i'm sticking to it. hehe.

i'm with the school of thought that considers nostradamus to be nothing more
than an extraordinarily bad french poet.

his final "prediction" is supposed to occur halfway through the 28th century,
but there's going to be the odd apocalypse along the way. thus beggaring the
question "if the world ends, exactly who the hell are the rest of his prophecies
for"? the morlocks?

call me crazy but i've always considered that the end of the world would have
some finality about it, you know, no grey area.

*reaches for bottle of drambuie*

excuse me while i go in search of my own little corner of oblivion.

yes, but when they pick those dates, is the world ending for example on 17 oct
2008 gmt midnight, or is it at the international date line? do australians get a
few extra hours? did they remember to include all the days that got
dropped/added by the various roman emperors when the roman calendar was being
finalised. did they take account of leap years? did they use an atomic clock to
accurately calculate the end of the world? will there be two different servers
where the rapture information will be kept, like eztv, so that the times will
keep confusing the heck out of me? will the rapture happen at each point on
earth as the date at that point becomes 17 oct? so that we'll see points east of
us disappearing gradually as it gets to us? will we have to hide in volcanos so
xenu can save us?
