i did install coreavc and whatever that haali media splitter is, but bsplayer
pro won't play it for whatever reason (it just says error). media player
classic does, as does divx player. and vlc does, though that's using its
internal codec, and it plays back poorly.

what might bsplayer's issue be? it's the player i normally use.

in general, what are the system requirements for watching a 720p .mkv file?
[#7549] Written by: realjjj [09/12/2006, 01:24]
took this from another forum
"even though there are very capable codecs out there, a modern pc is needed to
be able to fully enjoy the hd experience. for 480p and 720p i'd recommend a
512mb ram a64 3000+ with a decent video card (r9800/gf-fx and up). for 1080i/p
i'd recommend a 1024mb a64 3800+ with a mid-high end video card (x800/gf6600gt
and up). obviously, the higher the specs of the pc are, the smoother the
experience would be. at any rate, i'd recommend shutting all background tasks."

i have been grabbing the 720p from else were for time now and i have to say the
extra 350mb is well worth it, wont be long till we see 1080i/p which will be great.
glad to see its finally made it here as most of the scene releasers have been
doing the hdtv,hr hdtv,720p for a few months now never really understood why
they weren't here.

to thoose of you moaning about 350mb, get a job and buy a bigger hdd, they cost
pennys i mean nothing at tall, just brought 1.5tb(2 x 750gig) hdd's for

is there anybody else besides me with concerns about the share ratio?

i have 4000 mbit/s down- and 192 mbit/s upstream. right now, my share ratio is
1:1.875. if i start downloading all the the 720p releases, i will not be able
to maintain a decent ratio.

so i wonder, has anybody else a faster connection or will these hdtv releases
result in more leechers and fewer seeders...

just my 20 cents.

the share ratio is indeed a large concern and is one of the things we'll be
monitoring closely. large files like this can be a worry on public trackers.

my tv can't do 720p
it will only do 1080i, 480p and 480i
so unless they start coming out in 1080i,
i vote for the 350meg or 700 meg versions

it may be my system that is having issues but i have a p4 3.06 ghz, 1 gb of ram
and the geforce fx 5200 video card. the video is choppy and the audio out of
sync.

i'm using the cccp codecs and media player classic.

can anyone give me a next step to try? i would love to start watching my
favorite shows in hd.

thanks.

i seem to be the only one who prefers 350mb

no, ur not. when it comes to downloading, i prefer 175/233/350 mb. if i really
like the show and feel like i need to watch it in the highest definition
possible, i go out & buy the dvd. but for those who don't want to buy the show
when it comes out on dvd and want to have a high def copy of the show to keep
this is a great alternative.

i personally dislike mkv container, due to it's incompatibility with most living
room players. avi, mpg, mp4 or wmv is prefered to mkv in my opinion due to their
implemented standard.
it would be better if the show is encoded with divx (5.2 or later allows hd 720p
and 1080p encoding), or wmv9.
