i was waiting for the next ep of heroes (not to be) till the new year i see.!

i lost interest in lost, the second mid break now i can't get into it anymore.
if us tv is going to do this all the time, i think i will d/l the lot before
watching the show.
i have just got into heroes, now it's on a break good god it's only just
getting going.
maybe it just me but uk tv shows start then don't stop till they have finished.
i wish us tv played all the episodes of a series then went on a break.
well, at least it's only for a few weeks.

any idea why? they do that!! (stupid americans) they start something then go
on holiday.

we all suffer - how do you think americans feel?

uk tv start and then don't stop because they start 3 or 4 months later. fyi, sky
one is taking a break in lost season 3 after episode 6 like abc in the states so
you gonna b***h abou that as well now?

and its a season not series - stupid british. when you get succesfull in the tv
industry, then start changing the words. but seen as though everything that is
of any quality is american, call it a season - especially if it is a us tv
series!!! (i say tv series as in tv show, which is it's correct use)

it's probably because of it being the holiday season and people don't wanna
spend their christmas period watching tv.

don't call americans stupid - they're a lot better than the british (not
counting bush of course) - especially in tv!!!! :@

nah! lost interest in lost now.

as i said the shows i do watch are amarican (british tv just isn't as good).
but the show has just gotten going (heroes) that is.
im glad it's just for a few weeks tho.
i still think people have time to watch shows they like even if they have a lot
to do.
you have things to record tv shows like we have sky+ & sky hd over here in the
uk.

perhaps i did go a bit (far) in saying (stupid americans).
i ment the people who put the tv shows on not all (americans).
sorry to you all for that, but im not sorry about saying that about your tv
networks.
even if they do make the best tv series ( i mean season)
but it just doesn't sound right!!
but i just don't understand why! they have such long!!! breaks in the hit shows.
i was just annoyed to find out yet another us tv show was going on yet another
break.

at crimbo you've gotta expect it. plus if they leave a huge cliffhanger before
the break, more people have a chance to watch the episode before the conclusion
and then they may end up getting a higher rating for the return episode. makes
complete sense in most cases.

only thing that has bothered me is sci fi putting sg-1 back till march (atl
makes no diff, i get that from ca) and bsg not starting until october instead of
july.

the networks make a lot of mistakes, but its all about business and getting ratings.

hey (gatefan).

i didn't mean to efend anybody and yeah you have a point with the last thing
you said about the money & ratings.

i don't know why i didn't make it clear and i shouldn't of said stupid either.
i'm sorry if i offended anybody, i see you take part in here allot.
so if you know anybody at eztv get them to withdraw this thread (delete it).

the last thing i wanted is to get up peoples noises.
had to add this before i went to sleep.

hey also i have been thinking about (series) & (season).

i still think if i was to ask someone if they had watched the last episode of
say (dr who) i would ask them (are you watching the new series dr who) not (are
you watching the new season dr who).
must just be a british thing to say (series) and an american thing to say
(season).
although i do say season when i say something like (hay have you got the last
season of enterprise)

to me a series is something that is on going and season is something that is
finished.

but hey back to the thing i was saying before (sorry about the stupid) i was
stupid saying something like that.

but i still don't like the breaks they have between the shows.
without american tv shows the days tv wouldn't be worth watching in england.
so american tv rules.

bye for now (si)(uk) :-)

you also have to think. the states airs the show first right? the uk airs them
later on. do you know why? it has to do with television rights and not to
mention that every show takes a break to film more episodes.

example: charmed (dex)

they started him in epiosode 1, they took a break after episode 6 to film more
episodes because the fans did not like him.

thats all right as long as you've appologized. just a bit silly to come onto a
forum which has a lot of americans and call americans stupid lol.

i'm british and season comes easier to me, but then again i am trying to
distance myself from being british (i soooo wanna be an american citizen when
i'm older, hard test apparently though!). series for me means a tv show. season
is the time period during which a certain number of episode air before taking a
long hiatus for another season of episodes.

gatefan, where to begin? basically you disgust me. throwing a little sissy fit
over the word series?!

you have a go at sye for calling americans stupid, which is fair enough
(though i think he was mainly referring to network execs, and the only way you
seem capable of doing this is by disparaging your own country, "they're a lot
better than the british"!? congratulations your an arse.

"i soooo wanna be an american citizen when i'm older, hard test apparently
though"

as you get older, hopefully wiser, you will learn to hate yourself less and
appreciate what you have. although judging from your comments that will be an
uphill battle as there's plenty to despise. really hope you pass that test
son, they are very welcome to you.

there is plenty of earth shatteringly good british tv! take a minute out of
your busy tellytubby schedule and you'll find plenty especially if your
willing to go back a few years. which is why they broadcast so much of it
across the pond and attempt to recreate so many our shows. don't get me wrong
there is plenty of garbage too but i think youll find that is the case
globally. the medium is regretably prone to producing things that satisfy lazy
minds.

sorry to have gone off on one but i'm not going to let your drivel stand
unchallenged especially seeing as how you managed to guilt someone else into
an apology. stay in school tardbot.

just to be as picky as everyone else:

the term series is just as valid as season. you have a series of episodes in
the same way you may have a series of one night stands.... you have a break and
then another series of one night stands and you have had 2 series. season is
just a length of time so both can be technically correct under different contexts.

to the guy that was obviously offended by the original post and slated uk tv,
don't even start me please. considering the geographical size and population
differences between the uk and us the uk produces a hell of a lot more decent tv
than the us. a lot of crap is also made, but the same can and should be said
about us tv.

why don't uk series have many breaks? two reasons:
1. they tend to be shorter. for instance sitcoms are traditionally only 6-8
episodes per series where us "seasons" could be 12 or 20+ episodes.
2. a whole series is generally made at once, especially true of sitcoms.

torchwood is running at the moment, the first series has 12 episodes (plus the
two part premiere) which will end next month and will not have had one break
even over christmas. and thats how i like it 🙂

what a bleeding suck-up, lmao.

a series is a british tv show.
a season is an american tv show.

i notice how a lot of us british respect that americans use season, yet they
never respect us back by classifying our shows as "seasons."

look at this joker. the us makes a couple of good shows and he thnks that makes
americans better than everyone else! lol gees kill a few million people in
countries that arent yours and bang your the best.. the us is the worlds largest
terrorist organization run by a guy who is dumber than the hobo i just gave 2
bucks to! americans are the worst people. they are so conceited they would
rather spit on you than help you out. id take a brit over an american anyday of
the week and twice on sundays. btw im canadian i know what im talking about.

the average uk show is 6 episodes long.

the average us season is 22 episodes long....

there are only 52 weeks in a year..

it takes longer than just a week to film one episode for some of the shows with
higher production values.. like lost or heroes, etc.

so lets assume hypothetically that it takes two weeks to film an episode
of lost... with only 52 weeks in a year, the maximum number of episodes it could
have in one season would be half that, or 26..
lost had 25 episodes in season one !!..
