i'm with aol (uk) but it has just been sold to (talk talk).
most (isp) networks in the (uk) have fair usage in the package.
i have been asking around but i don't get a clear answer from anybody i have
talked to.
with fair usage in your package dose this mean you can't download and upload
all the time.
dose any body who comes in here have this in the package and still downloads &
uploads all the time.
without anything being said.

i'm just asking as (talk talk) is going to take over (aol) (uk) from the 31st
december this year.
i have read that (talk talk) is crap and i don't know if they can be trusted
not to give your (isp) out to people.
i'm not sure what other (isp) is good in the (uk) for the downloading and
seeding of torrents.

anybody got any idea's

thanks
bye for now (si)(uk)

i have a fair usage package. i didn't really know what the limit would be, but
when i looked into the small print they seemed to quote around 35gb's dl

i am with virgin (ntl) so it might not be the same for you. some isp's differe
radically.

check the small print. or use google.

pretty much every isp has a "fair usage" policy, even those who say they are
unlimited will have something in the small print to allow them to control their
bandwidth. some are better than others, there are a lot of forums out there
which discuss exactly this topic if you have a google around.

yep. fair use means that your speeds will be limited during peak hours 5pm -
1am gmt. if the isp desides that your area is over loading the network, web
surfing wont constantly keep up and download at max so they know if your
downloading files.
instead of releasing the reserved company/business broadband speed that is not
being used allowing to allow normal network speeds again. they will switch your
area to a slower speed.
ntl/telewest are trying the traffic shaping and port blocking option before
using the big downgrade button.

have fun.

thanks for the info i find people on this forum are very helpful with allsorts
of this regarding tv torrents and the things that go with it.
now i'll start looking on the net.
i just wanted a few ideas before i delve into the net as i seem to get off
track most times.

i will look at some isp's on the net and look at the small print and maybe
phone them up to see what they have to say.

bye for now and again thanks (si)(uk) :-)

i don't know what talk talk is, but here in america aol is considered one of the
worst ip's around. i don't know why you europeans even use them.

lol ..
you have had broadband over there for longer than we have here in the uk.
most of the isp over here have restrictions on just how much we can download.
for a few years now we have been looking for a new isp but we can only have
broadband if it goes through our telephone line asdl i think.
we don't have any cable or any kind of fiberoptic lines we can use in our
vilage.
so we are left with a hand full and out of them aol offer the best deal.
the package we have here is aol gold (up to 2 meg) the most i can push up is
27kb/s with u-torrent but if the torrent is good i can get about 180kb/s down.
for that we have to pay 29.00 pounds per month.

so what do you think are we getting good value for money in the uk.
just kidding that all we have so that's that as they say.

thanks for taking time to comment on this i do appreciate all your input.

bye for now (si)(uk) :-)

i'd leave aol the only reason i put up with them so long was because it was a no
limits service now its just gonna be a sucky even worse isp.

damn, that sucks. i pay like $30 for unlimited usage, with consistent 3mb
(400kb/s) down speeds. my isp is cableone.

ya, i guess aol is moving into the europaen market because they are having real
trouble here.
