its just a higher quality version of the show, usually about 544p (960x544),
compared to 352p (624x352). if you have a normal sdtv (480p) then you probably
won't see the difference.
hr is half resolution of high definition (1920x1080). you also get 5.1 sound as
well as a higher bitrate. well worth downloading if you can spare the bandwidth.
hr versions are great if you are playing them on a computer - especially with a
large widescreen monitor. however no current standalone dvd players can decode
them - the frame sizes are too large. anything above 720x576 pixels will
require a special player.
since i do not own an x360, i cannot say for sure if it will, but i know it is
capable of full resolution 720p. therefore h(alf)r(es)1080 is definitely within
its capability.
thanks. i know it is capable. i was wondering if it support the codecs used in
these releases.
(i usually burn a data dvd (with 350mb eps) for my standalone player which
doesn't support the codecs for the 700mb eps).
or does anyone know of another way to burn these hr 700mb or 720p eps???
i have recently got my pc hooked to my 32" hdtv via vga cable. it looks like
the hr files are higher quality on my tv which it should be but the sound is
very low on a hr file i downloaded which is lost.s03e06.hr.hdtv.ac3.5.1.xvid-
nbs. i have the k-lite codec pack 2.77full installed. do i need an additional
codec to get the sound to not be so low? not sure if the codec pack i use has
the ac3 codec and i thought that if i didnt have the right codec, i would get
no sound, not low sound.
the k-lite pack includes an ac3 volume boost option, as i recall.
make sure you read to the end of the configuration options when you install,
or alternatively run the codec tweak tool in the `k-lite codec
pack/configuration` section of your start menu.
the 4th checkbox section or so down is "ac3filter boost volume"

xbmc on xbox (not xbox 360) plays hr files back fine. yes, i know it\'s
techincally a computer, but hey, so is a calculator.
