i like to keep some of the shows i download and as i haven't got a massive
hard drive, i burn them to dvd using nero 7 (nero vision). however i often
find that i get audio sync issues that weren't on the original file and there
is no way to know until after you burn it, meaning a wasted few hours burning
time and a wasted dvd.

so i was wondering, what do you guys use to burn your dvds?
also, is it worth me getting hr versions of files to burn, can you tell the
difference when watching on a tv? (bandwidth and time to download not an issue
really).

any reccomendations of programmes to use would be great, however free ones
would be better ;-) thankyou in advance.

fwiw, i have tried many applications, and by far my favorite is convertxtodvd.
i do have a dvd player that plays divx/xvid, but sometimes i need to make a dvd
for someone who doesn't have a divx player, and convertxtodvd does a terrific job.

well i'll see if my dvd player can handle divx, but if not looks like
convertxtodvd will be the one, unless someone else can suggest something?

i use convertxtodvd too, no problems so far. it\'s pretty good, and you can also
add non-permanent .srt subtitles to the dvd you burn. just put the subtitle in
the same folder with the video file you want to burn, and make sure it has the
same name as the video file. this way you can make dvds with subs, and if you do
not wish to see them, just disable them from the dvd\'s player menu. enjoy

i use a bunch of programs to make dvds from my video files. never had any sync
issues.

- if i downloaded the video, virtualdub to uncompress the audio (prevents sync
problems)
- if its a transport stream i recorded on my tv tuner, i use projectx to demux it.
- mpeg2 schnitt to remove ads if necessary.
- tmpegenc to encode to dvd compatible mpeg2.
- tmpegenc dvd author to author the dvd iso file.
- alcohol 120% to burn it.

i've never heard of convertxtodvd, but it sounds nice and easy, i'll give it a try.
