American Dad Episode Numbering

i would like to know why the newest american dad episodes are marked as third
season ones, when they are in fact the second season...

the same goes for family guy. they are marked as season 6, when in epguides.com
they are season 5.

i think we should follow epguides on this...

i'm not watching this shows so i have no idea what is the right way to do it
what i can say is that eztv is releasing the files as they are labeled by the
scene and changing it would create more confusion

both these shows have suffered from labelling problems due to the uk spliting
long seasons into two parts. if you check amazon.com (us) you can see family
guy season 4 on dvd as part one and part two. what is really season 4 part 2
sold in the uk as season 5!

i think the scene are following the uk labels as this avoids any duplicate
season numbers on future releases.

i know it's a pain in the ass and had me confused for a while too but it doesn't
really matter on this site as eztv only put up the latest tv shows so if it is
on here it is a current season not a re-run!

basically, blame fox

uk airings aren't the cause of the problems here, as all american dad episodes are capped from the us. my
understanding of the situation is that at various points where fox takes a few weeks off from airing, when
it comes back fox considers it a new season, but in production terms its not, the exact same thing is
happening with family guy

back in the day they also did this with futurama, which is why that is considered by many to have 4
seasons, and epguides on places like tv.com list it that way, but in fact it only got 4 seasons. the uk dvd
releases reflect that, and have them in production order too, but i think the us kept to the 5 season
structure. with family guy and american dad though, the dvds have been released inkeeping with fox's air
seasons, hence dvd season1 of american dad finishing at stan of arabia.

i've completely given up on seasonal numberings for both american dad and family guy, and have taken to
giving them just episode number instead, so i have family guy now as episode90, and american dad as
episode 35, much easier i think, and neither show really has a seasonal structure so that's not a problem
either
