Black Donnellys New Show on NBC

i really hope there is a good following to this show. and hope there is
seeding for this one, when it airs.. thanks best website ever works out great
for a student that wants to be in the loop on a few shows thanks guys/gals

the black donnellys follows the exploits of four young, working-class irish
brothers. their involvement in organized crime in new york city will put their
life at risk and they will do anything to protect each other from the
hostility between them and the others new york families who want their
territory.

i'm sure it will have a good following. i saw the pilot last year and i
thought it was great. looking forward to this.

the pilot looks promicing but it kills me that we won't get studio 60 anymore

i'm torn between the two.

black donnellys looks like it could be really promising from the pilot...
although i fear nbc will try and water it down, and it'll lose some of
the "hard edge".

on the other hand i love aaron sorkin's writing. sure he can be a soapbox
ranter if he doesn't restrain himself, but i just love the snap and wit of
good actors delivering sorkin-speak at 200 miles per hour.
i just wish it was about something a tiny bit more compelling and not wasted
on a leadenly unfunny `comedy show` that i don't give a shit about.

still - on the bright side - maybe if he can stop himself going on a mad crack
binge he might dream up a premise that actually does justice to his dialogue
style 😉

when did nbc decide not to air studio 60? it had a full season order

burbank - february 13, 2007 - nbc's new mid-season drama "the black donnellys"
will premiere on monday, february 26 (10-11 p.m. et) -- following the hit drama
"heroes" (9-10 p.m. et), it was announced today by kevin reilly, president, nbc
entertainment.

"the black donnellys" had previously been announced to debut on march 5. "studio
60 on the sunset strip" (currently mondays, 10-11 p.m. et), will return to the
schedule later this season on a date to be determined.

so maybe we'll get the full season but i doubt it

i assume that everyone knows that a dvd screener of the 1st episode of the
black donnellys is available on this site?

yeah - that's the pilot people have been referring to.

the episode to be shown first on the 26th feb may not necessarily be
identical - they often get wholly or partially re-shot, maybe heavily re-cut
and certainly focus-grouped to hell and back before making it to air.

yea, focus groups will end up sanitising the show and stripping it of any actual soul that it once had. i was
very surprised when it was first announced that this was going to be on nbc as from the plot outline and
even through to the screener it had more of a hbo feel to it, but like many have said already i have mixed
feelings on it, as i really love s60 but the screener for this had potential too.

possibly the most worrying fact for s60's survival isn't from a better showing of black donnelleys, but the
change in management at nbc, new guy may not be willing to commit to s60 with the current (inexplicably
low) figures for it, hopefully he'll appreciate it's potential, but it woudln't be the first time a show has
fallen almost entirely because of a change in management
