anyone an expert on bitlord or could help me out?

i have been trying to get the latest ep of crossing jordan and i keep getting a
connection timeout.. i was told by a friendly member that i need a dht plugin.

does bitlord have a dht plugin? if so where do i get it/enable it?

thanks in advance.

leaving aside whether bitlord is horrible or not (it is, in my personal
opinion 😉) it has no mechanism for doing dht at all, natively or via plugin.

you'll have to get another client if you want to get files from the
distributed peer `cloud` when the original tracker is dead.

bitlord has a kind of dht but it only works if you have been connected to the
tracker at some point on that torrent. it remembers all the peers you were
previously conneced to when you re-start a torrent, but if you can't connect to
the tracker at all then it won't work.

i used to use bitlord but moved to utorrent which has much better dht which
doesn't need to connect to the tracker at all!

yeah - that's `peer caching`. not quite the same thing, as you point out, and
a common feature in torrent clients. (azureus & utorrent included)

tnx kurai, i didn't know the correct name for that. it did come in handy when
trackers died but it's no where near as useful as dht!
