both , torrent file like numbers posted now , directs me to bt-chat and there
where i am a member says file not found. usually i can get torrents ok but the
actual avi right now trying to get stargate files , it will take 21 hours i can
not even reach 6 kbs stargates always seem slow. and no my setings are fine , i
go to other sites and my download speed is fine. there says thousands of peers
but in swarm but only 1 maybe 2 or even no seeds . there are about 35 peeers
ouside the swarm but stargate files are the worst i use azureus and have been
for a long time
any suggestions
by the way thanx for responding
i've had the same problem, and my best guess is all the sites supplying the
torrent files are taking a bandwidth/server resources hit like the eztv site
right now. if an attempt at d/ling something times out, reloading 1-2 times
should work, but if you give up goto a different torrent site that relists or
tracks the same tv show. as for downloading the show itself, i agree that d/l
speeds are for some reason a lot slower than usual. my best advice is to try and
ignore it and/or download a different show you enjoy also 😛
i know i've posted about this before, and i know eventually there will be
someone complaining "it's free, shut up", but still.. i used to max out my 2mb
connection on eztv files, although now on my 8mb connection, i hardly ever
reach 100kb/s, but i know i can, i have done it before elsewhere. i do find
that not downloading the torrent until a few days after release helps, but
speeds recently haven't been their best.
my azureus says that the stargate swarm's average speed per user is 23kb/s, no
wait, now it's 19kb/s, so it can't be a configuration problem. seems like
overloading in the tracker. surprising that an p2p that bypasses the site is
still affected by site bandwith. where do i donate to get more bandwith?
well its a public tracker, of course people are just gonna download and not give
back much.
but as for download speeds, i've downloaded up to 423kb/s with eztv seeded stuff.
make sure you do nessacary stuff like havea port forwarded, and i've heard it
helps to have your upload rate atleast at 20kb/s to get good downloads
torrenting is a careful blend of speeds, i for example havd 2.2mbit adsl with
30kbps upload speed. if i upload under 5kbps i get very slow speeds, and if i
upload at my full speed i also get slow speeds. why? because with adsl your
upload speed is taken out of your download speed... so, i leave a bit, i upload
at 25kbps and i get speeds of about 200kbps+. its also a mixture of how many
peers you are uploading to per torrent and all the dht stuff.
yes your right , free is good , i ws asking is all , but torents that are freee
but not there are bad , ie: i have tried to get numbers from here for 3 days
,the torrent forwards to ct.chat or something where it says torrent does not
exsist, yes i am a member there to , this is just f.y.i. , i did go to mininova
for the file . just concerned .
have a nice day
just because your getting crappy speeds, its not our fault. the problem is that
people are not seeding enough. instead if you want to max out your connection,
become a member at a private site like bitmetv.org or sct. as to those that can
max out their connections sometimes, thats because there are dedicated people
that have really good connections the help eztv release a file at really fast
speeds.
cragllo is completely correct... its not about your isp's advertised maximum
speeds... at all..
its about tweaking your advanced parameters and options in your client..
test to find out your true maximum ul/dl speeds.. dont just go by what your isp
tells you that your line runs at... your true speed will be much lower...
then in your client.. set the client maximums to about 75% of your actual
maximums.. maybe 80%...
i know this sounds like it will slow down and limit your connection... but
really it will speed it up.. because the problem is your bandwidth is being
choked.. it needs a little extra space to breathe set aside..
also... check your settings for "maximum total connections" or something similar..
i know at first it sounds like the more connections the better, right?... nope..
you want to limit that too, or it will choke your client with too many
connections also... around 100 is optimal for most cable isp's.. a little less
for most dsl, maybe around 85..
there are other options you should look into tweaking too..
all of this is probably covered in the faq at the site for your client..
if its not... then youre using the wrong client..
i recommend you get utorrent.. and read the faq top to bottom!..
the problem with downloading the .avi has nothing to do with the site, apart
from how popular it is and how many people download the torrents from it. the
more people who are downloading at one time, the slower it will go (until the
amount of seeders starts to go up).
the ratio of seeders to leeches (plus the seeders upload speeds) directly
effects the speed at which you can download, factor in that alot of us seed
more than one torrent at a time and the speeds can be quite slow.
make sure that when downloading you limit your upload speed to around 75% of
it's max (i have a 50kb up, and limit to 36kb, which is 72%. if it's still
slow, i limit to around 26-30kb), this is because your client needs some
bandwidth (upload) to find the parts of the file you need and it normally also
needs to let the other computer know it has recieved the data. the thing with
this is, it will be different for everyone, and for different torrents, so
test a few limits and seetings and see what results you get and go with the
best for you.
for popular shows, such as stargate, prison break, lost etc...
if you want a torrent as soon as possible, download it when it first comes out
(it will finish earlier than if you wait, it just takes longer to download).
if you want a torrent as fast as possible, you may want to wait (12 to 36
hours) for the seeder to leecher ratio to get better.
hey , i never had problems with downloads before , i am not the only one, right
now i can not even get torrents , they all connect to bt-chat. ii get tranfered
to bt-chat and ther is a error that torrent does not exsist or can not connect
to site. since all these files go to bt-chat i can not download any torrents , i
went to another site and got the torrent in seconds , this is what iused to get
here , as when files connect to mini nova but they come here first . getting the
torrent has nothing to do with my client. i just do not know why this is
happening , plus i do not like bt-chat i do not know anyone who likes it , this
problem with torents happens at other computers , like internet cafe's . i have
tweked my client maybe i missed something and i am the first one to ask for help
if i do not understand . i have 4 computers and none can get torrents from here.
i tried at internet cafe same problem , since connection to bt-chat , i will
tweak some more and keep trying but this only happens here , i like this site
and many people i know like this site as being prefered. and so ir should be .
but if i cant't get the torrents i am confused . get back . i download and seed
24/7 so i am guite familiar with availability.
