Multi-tracker / tracker groups not used ?

just curious as the major clients (azureus and utorrent) support it, why the
eztv torrents dont use tracker groups or multi-trackers or whatever you prefer
to call them.

just seems to make sense to me as there are now 4 tracker provided and run (i
presume) by the awesome slad007 (thank you lots btw !). as seen by the effects
of swamp mondays they cant individually handle the load of all the torrents and
peeps using them.

i dont want to sound like a smart arse here but there are simple ways of load
balancing using apache. to say, setup 1 master server that load balances between
the actual tracker servers couldnt be that hard could it (its well documented in
apache man pages if your interested, try starting under mod-rewrite if your
curious).

well just thought i'd mention those things for y'all to mull over. thought it
might make life a little easier for the admins.

i am saying this for more than a year now 😛
but for the moment it is still impossible for us to use it because of our seed
clients but we are already for some time busy making new clients and when they
are finished than i hope we are gonna use the multi tracker torrents...

it is a work in progress but remember that we are all volunteers with a job and
a family and that rewriting an existing client for linux not always that easy is 😉

i'm sure there are some people friends of eztv who are willing to help as i am!
i can only do web design/applications so im no use. but a small team is plenty
to alter existing program code 🙂

i've always wondered this too. maybe not in the same way though. vtv and eztv
both release the same encode of the same episode but they are 2 separate
torrents. why can't they be put together with both trackers listed. you'd get
double the seeds and peers and that can only be a good thing.
