if you haven't read an answer yet, i doubt you will magically get one now.
actually, i went back a week through the posts here, but didn't see any other
posts on this topic.
according to wikipedia, the two broadcasts of the planet earth series are
narrated by different people. for the bbc version, the narrator is david
attenborough. for the us/discovery channel release, the narrator is sigourney
weaver.
with the above fact along with the assumption that the bbc version is pal, i
would think that there would be an interest in the us version.
the series includes 11 episodes (us order):
"from pole to pole": 25 march 2007 at 8pm et
"mountains": 25 march at 9pm et
"ocean deep": 25 march at 10pm et
"deserts": 1 april at 8pm et
"ice worlds": 1 april at 9pm et
"shallow seas": 8 april at 8pm et
"great plains": 8 april at 9pm et
"jungles": 15 april at 8pm et
"fresh water": 15 april at 9pm et
"seasonal forests": 22 april at 8pm et
"caves": 22 april at 9pm et
there are also 3 supplemental videos that full under the "planet earth: the
future" series:
1. "saving species"
2. "into the wilderness"
3. "living together"
i'm not sure if the discovery channel is going to show the future series as
well.
anyone know if a release group is capping the us release?
there is a non scene guy with the alias goat doing that series, search on torrentspy
they are 295mb each, x264 video, mp3 audio, hdtv rip
although the scene already has hdtv and dvdrips done but i don't know where to
get those (the show came to the uk first, then usa)
but there is also a bunch of other random formats for it as well from bbc rips
i've no read on other boards that the content between the discovery and bbc
versions is slightly different along with the narrators. what's even more
confusing is that there are now torrents on mininova that read like this:
discovery channel - hdtv bbc planet earth 06of11 ice worlds 720p xvid ac3 www
mvgroup org avi
since when is the bbc = discovery channel???
which version is this?
and yeah, i saw the lower quality version. this stuff was meant to shown in
hd, so it at least warrants a 700mb (or equivalent h264 size) file size.
ever notice a lot of british accents on discovery? and if you check the credits
you'll see many of discovery's mini series are produced by the bbc if not some
other british production co. and i think i recall this planet earth mini being
specifically advertised as a bbc production on discovery.
other that i'll add i was looking forward to this too, hopefully we'll see
somewhere soon.
