i've been having issues with eztv tracked torrents. basically, the download
speed goes up to about 40kb, holds there for about 30 seconds, decreases to 0
for a couple of seconds, then slowly goes back up to 40. the upload speed does
the same thing.
i have tested this with other torrents that aren't hosted by eztv and i don't
have the problem.

any ideas? any things i could do to rule out different causes?

thanks guys.

ok, i take it back, the same thing is happening with other torrents. i know
this means that the eztv forum isn't the place for this, but does anyone have
any suggestions?

thanks for the reply,

i'm using utorrent, dht is enabled. my dl rate is set to unlimited, my upload
rate is set to 45 (speed tests have shown that the maax upload rate is around
70). i'm using pc-cillin 2007. i was using zone alarm before, but when i
upgraded to version 7 my system was hanging if i left utorrent on for a long
time so i had to switch. my provider is primus (canada).

i've actually noticed that from time to time the light that indicates the dsl
connection on my modem is turning off, and that is when i lose the connection.
perhaps utorrent is unable to start looking for peers when this happens and
requires being restarted. this seems like a problem on primus' end, not mine.
but i was wondering if they were doing it on purpose.

you tried swapping the ports that your torrent client uses?

yes, i have tried switching the ports. utorrent is set to randomize the
incoming port every time it starts.
