as a whole i enjoyed the complete series of "life on mars" but, i have to say i was dissapointed with the ending, it was so preictable. as soon as he went into the tunnel i knew he was going to wake from his coma & even ray charles saw the suicide ending coming. bring on the 80's, & now as gene hunt would say "it's beer o'clock." |

*spoiler alert* during the train scene where sam tells annie - "i promise i won't leave ya" the picture squeezes and has two dots in the top left. maybe it is just my download. i am going to try and redownload it to see if it continues. |

it might have been predictable but it was a very brave thing to show - dorothy preferring "oz" rather than "kansas" - but sam had to kill himself to get back there and suicide is never easy to show on tv and they nailed it. when the time came for the jump i bet everyone wanted him to jump really bad. i was afraid they'd pull a bad cop-out or cut it right there so i was so delightfully surprised when he did that i jumped out of my seat in joy. btw, ashes to ashes might be a rehash but i adored the character so much that i'll watch it if only for hunt's great quotes. oh, thanks for whoever posted it! :d |

y'all might want to read stephen donaldson's "chronicles of thomas covenant the unbeliever" ... clearly (to me, anyway) a big chunk of inspiration for the underlying concept: hero hit by car, wakes in unfamiliar cercumstances (sorry ... wouldn't let me spell it right <g>), and grapples with the question of which is "real." the covenant books (2 trilogies, and a new series in the works) were ny times best sellers starting in the early 1980s. (a fantasy backdrop rather than 1970s cops, but a phenomenal read!) |

in case you all missed it abc(the us network) has picked up life on mars, apparently this is one of the reasons it wrapped in two seasons. the disney bucks bought it, and it will be americanized soon. the man at the helm is the same man that brought you (drum roll please)...... ally mcbeal you can form your own view point on what that will mean, but i am already breaking out the beer and getting ready to cry in it. there goes the cutting edge and here comes a cross between starsky and hutch and the streets of san francisco, plus a warm and fuzzy feel, too. hats off to the british version, one of the best shows in years. really enjoyed and started with s1e1 to show the new wife last night. good to go back and see where it started, rough, edgy and very topical. |

i second that, it is very odd, but i didn't have chance to watch it when it was aired on tv, so dunno if its intentional or a fault with the capture. the ending for me felt abit like they didn't know how to end it. i usually get a "feeling" after a good episode, something that leaves an effect on me, but i didnt get it with this last episode. i'm going to re-watch it and see if it changes my opinion. |

what a great ending - i somehow knew they wouldn\'t let him stay in the dull \"real\" world, it just didn\'t seem right. has anyone read the novel \"neverwhere\" by neil gaiman? because there is a huge similarity to the book concerning the story of lom. it just popped into my mind when sam was on the roof and i knew it would end the same way gaiman\'s neverwhere did (people who've read the book know what i mean). maybe one of the writers was inspired by it |

i had those video-issues too, the video shrinks a little, producing a black box around the picture. for me, this is not a problem, everything is there, nothing is missing, just a few pixels smaller for a short time. brilliant ending, kind of perfect in my opinion. i am totally watching forward for the spin-off featuring dci hunt (i read that somewhere a few weeks ago) this was the best "last episode" i have seen since startrek the next generation |

the co-creator of life on mars has stated that lead character sam tyler definitely died during the last ever episode of the hit bbc show. the ambiguous ending to the finale left viewers uncertain of the policeman |
