The much hated and appreciated thank you's.

we, the users of eztv, will continue to make thank you-posts. at least i will do
that until it is official that we should stop doing it.

they are running the greatest tv torrent site ever made. and it's completely
free, public and fast. there isn't any advertisements or pop-ups on the site
either. the site's success has become more and more obvious as torrents grow
larger than life and is filled with comments from people all over the world.

the users also seem to be particularly friendly and helpful. now people also
show at least some appreciation for this great service we are provided. i mean,
look at the front page. they are searching for 5+mbits seeders. i am sure they
have a lot, but they could always use more. but anyway, people from all over the
world volunteer and give their bandwith away at all times of the day
(time-zones!) because they like this site and believe in the concept. those very
same people could just as easily have joined a private site and earned a lot of
credits and downloaded at faster speeds.

complaints about the thank you's many times involve the arguement that it takes
too long to check for any information on the actual release. well, most posts
consist of one or two lines. so it should take you maximum twenty seconds to
read through a page. it could take a few minutes if the thread has some 100
posts, sure, but you have probably already started your download.

remember:
1. skim through all the files released for the day and see if there is a proper
in addition to the file you are downloading. for instance, right now there is a
notv release of one tree hill as well as a fqm release of the same episode. the
fqm is labelled proper, so you should of course download the one labelled proper.

2. check nforce.nl if it is nuked. you could go there if you can't spending a
few minutes browsing through comments of appreciation.

and remember. when we say thank you, we don't only thank the good people behind
this site. we also thank the users. because bittorrent is based on a share and
receive principle.

the fact that people also tend to mention where they are from is just a trend
(started by an australian in a bsg torrent?). but this trend brought everyone's
attention to actually saying thank you. and it's not bad either to see all the
fans from all parts of the word coming here. there has always been polite users
here, but now there are more. when you get something for free, then i think you
should say thank you - even if you share and have a 1.0 or 2.0 ratio.

just to reiterate. my complaint on the thank yous is merely there to remind
users that just posting thank you is not enough. i realize there are those who
do seed and post thank you.. my complaint isn't for them.

it was just easier to complain about it as a whole. i would imagine the admins
would rather people actually seed, click on the ads, assist etc.. than seeing
people just post a generic thank you from [insert foreign country here].

again.. i want to emphasize.. it's not that i abhor people who thanks eztv..
rather do it in a way that actually show your appreciation. i can say "thank
you" to a homeless guy who washes my windshield but that'd be just that.. he'd
still be homeless and my windshield would be clean.

so innuendo, while i do appreciate your post.. because you seem like someone
who is genuinely thankful and your post is not just a bs post.. it's chalked
full of good content. my stance is still maintained.. don't thank with no
follow up or anything to show for it.

of course we feel unappreciated! with the users we have do you blame us?!?! 😉

just ask anyone on irc what they think of me, and most will say the devil
(unless santabj is on, then that is another story!! lol)

but on a serious note it is nice to see what kind of people come and download
shows, and spend a couple of seconds to thank us. of course the best way to
thank us is to keep our torrents alive by seeding or become an eztv seeder, but
we understand not everyone can possibly do that, so a simple post saying thank
you is just as good.

i agree 100% with god and n3l87. giving a report on the quality of the torrent
is a much better way of saying thanks than just writing "thanks from wherever"
because it actually takes effort and is worth something to everyone.

hmmm, there is always the option of giving us a thanks-button that you can press
(some private sites have them). so there would be the option of thanking without
blowing up the thread and leaving the thread alone for useful information. could
be a good compromise...
