why does this warrant a news item? let's face it, an actual petition would do
nothing to sway tv execs away from what they believe to be the right choice. tv
execs won't even know an online petition exists let alone make them change their
minds.

i love jericho, and am saddened to see it go, but this is just laughable. it
honestly wouldn't surprise me if those same petition signers probably scream at
their tvs believing that the characters and/or writers can hear them. that's
about as effective a result as you can expect from an online petition.

the only way this would warrant being a newsworthy item is to point out how
laughable and futile such a waste of effort is and possibly to point and laugh
as a source of amusement.

face it people, online petitions never work. they're nothing but a source of
entertainment for people to point at the stupid fanboys who still haven't grown
up to realize that they're insignificant existance and opinion is worthless and
that screaming online makes them a tragic mirror of the comicbook guy.

y'know, i think i'll start an online petition for people to accept the fact that
online petitions are useless.

i know it probably won't have any effect, but no harm in trying 😛

family guy was cancelled twice, and picked up again twice by the same network
(fox) because of strong dvd sales, reruns on adult swim and fans on the internet
signing petitions/forums etc.

why is it that everytime a show gets axed, some idiot makes a petition and they
actually think it'll work? clowns.

well there is a very small chance of it doing anything but its worth a shot you
never know. you should see how many people are signing it seems to be quite
popular, the best was how hard people tried to to get dark angel back sending
bar codes in a year after it was canceled.

well the more dedicated and creative of fan bases can do guerrilla marketing
and campaigns.

veronica mars fans who are fighting for the new incarnation of vm where they
jump four years into the future when she is working as a fbi agent with a
mystery of the week format (the jump in time would actually bring the character
closer to kristen bell's real age).

they raised money last year to rent a plane with a sign asking for renewal and
flew it over the networks offices at a time they were warned to look for a
surprise in the skies. this year they are distributing flyers with quotes from
kevin smith, joss whedon, and steven king supporting the show as fans.

the browncoats (serenity/firefly fans) even went much further and the movie
would probably never be made. unfortunately most people aren't watching it
through the box office, but finding out about it later.

its these kind of grassroots organized things you have to do just to get any
attention, let alone be successful.

for the people who say: the online petition probably wont work, but you never
know...
are really fooling themselves.

why waste any energy on something that is completely and utterly worthless?

better off doing something that at least has a snowflake's chance in hell of
working.

a real life hand signed petition, while still fairly unpersuasive, is worth a
million online petitions, and a single hand signed snail mail letter to the
network is better, etc, etc.

instead of signing crappy online petitions and fooling yourselves that you are
making a difference, do something (anything) in the real world that may actually
have value.

i think it's just unacceptable that (good) shows get cancelled like this. they
could've at least have the courtesy to write a smooth ending and end the series
with style, rather than cast a sudden death on it. couple more episodes would've
probably done the trick.

imagine if you're reading a really good book and suddenly text just stops,
leaving rest of the pages blank. or a radio station switches to another song in
the middle of playing your favorite song, explaining "oh, right, the ratings
were going down so we decided to skip to next song". or a movie that stops in
the middle of chase action and then comes the voice of a producer saying "we saw
it fit to stop the movie here. it was calculated that 7,5% of you will complain
about this and we found it an acceptable figure. sorry. and have nice day.
please stay tuned for advertisements of our upcoming movies".

tnt are also rumoured to be considering picking it up for a second season.
apparently they're still trying to decide if it is financially feeasable, and
well the show might do on cable rather than network tv. stay tuend.

in your face! i knew more hehe

take another look at the story kids.

http://www.syfyportal.com/news423672.html

nowhere in there do they even mention the online petition. it's only through
letter writing, creative fan action, and direct injection of viewer interface
with those who can actually do something does this result take place. not from
a petition that they didn't even know about. face it, online petitions were a
joke when they first started and are even more of a joke today.

for the record, i guarantee that the series will not be picked up again for
another season. a made for tv movie or direct to dvd movie is a possibility,
but the series is finished sadly.
