if you can't see video (the "white screen" problem), that means you haven't
installed divx. you can get it here:
http: // www. divx .com/divx/mac/download/index.php

if you can't hear sound but you can see video, you probably need the a52 codec,
which is not included with the mac divx distribution. you can download it from
here: http: // www. versiontracker .com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27300

(remove the space)
hope this helps.

the root of your problem is your os, my friend =)

edit: problems* .. i know you have trouble in life, too.

vlc doesn't work until you install a52, that's why i posted this.

you mean, when you need to, like -- to run those win32 applications that
wine doesn't support, and... well, to play any game that gets released past,
present or future.

ummmm, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html ... ac3 is clearly
supported/comes with vlc, you don't need the separate codec download.

yeah, so they claim. it doesn't actually work unfortunately.

i tried it on a clean macbook pro and a year old imac and neither of them had
sound. hopefully it was just me, but if anyone else has issues, here's the
solution.
