eztv don't create the avi files, they distribute them through torrents.

well, the faq really dosen't answer his question. however, a couple good
sources would be to just google the phrases "create 350mb avi divx" or "tv
bittorrent". also videohelp.com is a good source. lastly, the auto gordian
knot program is useful in creating the files (google it).

none of this is listed in the faq or is easily "findable" on this site
although the "good links for newbies" sticky thread is a start. perhaps the
kind of info the original poster was requesting could be included (even as
just a link to a useful info source) in eitheh the faq or the sticky thread
mentioned above?

well it does really - its quite clear that eztv doesn't cap/create the files and
has no contact with those that do and users of the site like you and me cannot
upload and won't have the opportunity to.

and although i don't work in tv, i would imagine if i did avi files would be
fairly commonplace.

don't want to be harsh to the newbies - we were all newbies once - but these
kind of questions can be answered very easily by searching on google and using
the links provided on the site.

it's pathetic to see how people react in forums.
all, except one or two of you guys, spent more time bitching than helping!
all you said was "we don't know the answer, but here's a good chance to spend 5
minutes writing in a forum and feel like we have a life"
my question was very legit.
n3l87 is rude but a "tough" guy who learned life the hard way... he has 9 years
of experience in the underground world of the internet!!! that's cool! he should
have spent these years going out so now he wouldn't have to spend his time in
front of his computer posting useless messages. instead he would have a hot wife
and cool friends!

i'm out

you're right but i got so mad because i was very excited at the idea of finding
an answer to my question that i reacted and played their game. i am a newbie and
still see theses postings as a conversation between "humans". i forget that we
all are just ips and take it as it someone is talking directly to me when they
post. i need to learn how to ignore these people and let them be miserable in
their crappy studio apartment with their dell or compaq computer.
cheers.

virtualdubmod is a free tiny program to convert from to several movie files. you
can find it under following adress (turn "x" to "t"):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdubmod/
the rest is learning by doing.
cheers!

you sir, are wrong.

it does answer his question.

his question is "how do you guys create the avi files?"

answer from the faq: "eztv caps no shows, it is a distribution group only. the
shows are capped by other release groups over whom eztv has no control (or
communication)."

(also, something god did mention)

the world is a strange place, where the same answer can apply to different
questions.

as for him being a newb and us helping him: i was a newb once. about 9 years
ago now. when i first got the internet. you know what i did? my own goddamn
research. nothing is handed to you on a silver plater, especially in the
underground. you have to know what you are doing for it to be beneficial.

you know i'm getting fucking tired of the damned elitist attitudes of people
like you. instead of taking the 5 minutes to type a flame/trolling response
to the original poster's very legitimate question, you can just ignore it and
post nothing. if you can't say anything nice...

and i was not wrong. you, sir, are trying to use symantics to avoid the
question. the original poster obviously meant how are the files created. the
fact that eztv dosen't actually cap the shows is symantisa and obviously not
what the poster meant.

as for doing your own "goddamn research", well asking questions of others and
expecting them to respond in a civil and helpful manner is a way of doing
research. a more appropriate response from you to this poster's question
would have been no response at all. if his kind of questions annoy you so
much, then just don't respond to them.

xavpil, i apologize on behalf of troglodytes on this board who respond in this
manner to perfectly reasonable and appropriate questions like yours.

xavpil, you have to understand. you made a great mistake in your
first post. you
announced to us that you 'work in tv'. you may have not noticed, but those who
'work in tv' are against us usually. you know, the whole mpaa thing. 😉 why
would anyone with half a brain be inclined to help you, when you could just
turn
around and use it against us. it's the internet. we don't know.

answers to your questions were given. why don't you go follow them up
now instead of becoming a waste of space. kthxbi

believe it or not, the torrent community, and now sites like youtube et al are
moving a lot quicker than many of the major broadcasters, especially in the
uk, ok so the beeb have jumped on board and are well placed to, and should do,
what u guys dont realise is that these and forums like it are great untapped
resources for all kinds of research and otherwise into viewing habits and
soforth. tv is about to become non-linear, torrents have allowed the like of
you and me to be non linear for years now, and its still a well kept secret.
so when people like xavpil or anyone else come in with a genuinly interesting
and worthy post, a lot of regulars, who should know better, start giving it
the big un and quoting rules etc, and are generally negative for no reason
other than they are tryin to get a rise or make themselves feel better about
whatever is wrong in their lives. its this sort of behaviour that will stop
forums/communities like eztv from being taken seriously as places to
debate/blog/communicate whatever about the bigger picture and how to embrace
the way we do things instead of trying to stop it.. i look to the admins to
keep it in line and start taking a harsher line with the unfriendliness that
pops up so often.
