the videocassette recorder (or vcr, more commonly known in the british isles as
the video recorder), is a type of video tape recorder that uses removable
videotape cassettes containing magnetic tape to record audio and video from a
television broadcast so it can be played back later. most vcrs have their own
tuner (for direct tv reception) and a programmable timer (for unattended
recording of a certain channel at a particular time).
the latter mentioned function is available in most (if not, all) vcr\'s and is
rather easy to set up. just follow this step-by-step guide:
step one
purchase a blank vhs cassette from your local vhs vendor (normally around
video, god, don't think ive used one in years, sky+ or v+ or an external linked pvr/dvd recorder.
if your in the uk. don't even know were you get the tapes from any more. lol
carboot sales and poundland mostly. most people have collections of old tapes in
their lofts which, with a bit of copy protection hacking (piece of cellotape)
can be easily over-written. 🙂 (brings back memories of renting vhs' from the
local shop and taping over the last 5 minutes of a movie with scenes from
eastenders)
