halfway watching the show..it lost the audio

i've been using vlc media player to watch all the shows i downloaded from
eztv.no problem whatsoever.then just now while i was watching this particular
show..halfway through the show..it lost the audio.i tried watching with the
media player classic..and there was no audio even in the beginning of the
show.i've been watching the whole season without any problem..i do think i
have the all the codec needed coz i downloaded the full k-lite codec pack bout
2 months ago...so...what is wrong ??i'm a hopeless noob.plz help

not a codec problem, or else the first half wouldn't have worked the first time
either. which episode of which show was it?

anyway, i would check and see if you are able to play other sounds or other
video files fine. maybe your sound card croaked.

it's the 8th episode of the 3rd season of so you think can dance...i have
watched since the beginning of the season..nothing's wrong..i still can watch
other show fine..i've read other comments on the show by other forummers.no
one's complain about anything..so i'm seriously lost here

hmm...very unlikely due to the bt error checking, but maybe the file got messed
up somehow (or maybe the part of your hard drive that the file is on is screwy).
maybe re-download it? shouldn't take that long...the seed to leech ratio is
probably pretty favorable right now.

other than that, i am quite perplexed.

reboot. (you'd be surprised what silly little glitches that fixes) if it still
doesn't work then yes, re-dl it.

pain in butt, but sometimes you just gotta do it.

works fine here. my guess, as others have said, is that the file is hosed.


btw - codec packs for the most part are crap and you only really need
ffdshow since it covers 99% of video and audio.

haali splitter is good to for mkv.

this is an unsophisticated but simpler way to fix the file, fix the codecs and
fix the player.

start with tvfan's suggestion. it's the simplest way to verify the file's integrity.

if you do not save your (.torrent) files just re-download the torrent. make
sure the file you want to check is in the folder where you download your
torrents to. within

not short, just simpler than troubleshooting codecs over a forum. one detailed
post will hopefully save him some grief. the detail is there to replace a series
of field questions. if he can't follow that, i probably can't help him.
