Question about x264 MKV Files Downloaded - Please help!

i have a ton of these files for my favorite shows as they look fantastic on my
tv. i recently got 5.1 surround sound hooked up to my computer, but when it
plays the file the voices are only on the rear speakers, while music/other sound
effects come from all speakers.

is this correct? do i have to download/fix anything to make it better?

set up your sound properly.

yeah sounds like a configuration problem. sounds stupid, but make sure your jack
cables are fully connected (all the way in) and make sure your software isn't
set to 2.1.
