Reported no. of seeds/peers vs. actual no.

i'm just downloading an episode, and the site reports some 290 seeds/170 peers.
however, utorrent sees only 2 seeds/20 peers. this has been happening with all
shows/episodes i've tried so far, the numbers the torrent client sees are much
lower the number the show page reports. could this be just a faulty torrent
client configuration on my part?

as far as i know, and my knowledge may be a little sketchy, but the torrent
client displays the peers in your swarm and who you are connected to, rather
than the total number of peers (which the site reports.) i'm sure one of the
more knowledgeable chaps will clear this up if i'm wrong.

no, that's not it. i'm actually connected to 1 of 2 seeders. you know how the
client reports something like seeds: 1(2), peers 5(19). it shows both the number
of connections and the total number.

anyway, after posting here i went to bt-chat.com and searched for what i was
downloading (it's the 700m episode 8 of rome season 2, btw), and they reported
(for this exact file here on eztvefnet.org) only 47 seeds.

you are correct. it is only the latest 100 torrents that are being updated on
the site. the "old" torrents are not important enough 🙂
