thx drfoo, but your fix is not working. the problem is that the sync is not steady through the whole file... it seems ok at the beginning but worse at the end. if i understand your fix the right way, the whole audio-track gets shifted... that introduces a delay at the beginning of the file, where originally was none. |

well i started off posting where people could get mencoder (official site) and the command to use, etc. anyone concerned about security (as of course we all should be) is more than welcome to do that. elsewhere i even urged people to do so. i admit, though, by the time i posted here i was a bit more terse. unfortunately, far too many users just can't seem to manage locating an app, installing it, and typing a command line. sad, but most definitely true. i think this has more to do with fear than actual difficulty of course. i have no idea what problem you could have with rars. that's how groups like lol distribute these things after all! finally, your concern about compatibility is entirely misplaced here. mencoder is a vary solid program that's quite well known. in fact it's my number one tool for fixing compatibility problems! i first ran across it some time ago in someone else's syncfix. it's a perfect program for this since it's entirely self-contained, small, does not need to be installed, does not need codecs or filters or anything else to do it's work, and of course it's both open source and legitimately free. |

yes, you understand what's going on. and yes after the fix it's now off in the beginning, but i think you'll find it's just during the recap (first 2 mins or less). the original was actually very close to in sync during the recap, but off for the rest of the episode. i think that's what actually caused the problem to begin with, theres was a glitch in that transition. so after the fix it should be a little off for the recap, but pretty good for the rest of the episode. not perfect, but a whole lot better than it was. if you're seeing something different, i don't know what to say. maybe you're just pickier than i am! or perhaps you have an entirely different problem in addition to the basic one i've attempted to fix. i'd suggest trying it in another player, one that doesn't require codecs, such as vlc or mplayer. and if you are already using one of those, make sure it's up to date. |

i never said there was actually a problem with the rars or sync fixes. my intention wasn't to discredit whatever fixes or files you might've linked to. my intention was simply to introduce a bit of caution to those who blindly download or execute files posted on here. remember, anybody can say something is a legitimate fix. better to stick to one standard than to allow users to introduce their own encoding prowess. one person's quality is another's problem and vice versa. |

ok, here it is for real...the episode is noticably out of sync in parts...it will annoy those like me who want it perfect, but generally it is ok if you aren't too fussy. like i said, tolerable for the most part, but not perfect. |

to be honest, i can't see the problem with the sync on the origional. i did the sync fix to it and then it was noticeable. *shrugs* could be my media-player. |
