my old divx box kicked the bucket... but it was old and didn't play alot of
stuff correctly anyway.. so i need a new one..

i hear that many divx machines don't play the hr ac3 5.1 files correctly... or
have other similar compatibility issues..

so what i am asking is.. for recommendations of specific set-top divx/xvid
capable boxes, that really do play everything and have no problems..
please tell me if you have one that fits this requirement, that you have had a
lot of positive experience with... by the brand and model number its is..
(the brand and model range will do if your model number is outdated.)

please help me out?... and thank you in advance..

hey krypto, i was hoping someone else would have answered you by now, but i guess no one knows of a
decent candidate

best i've seen is the toshiba sd360e which i've tested quite extensively using a variety of codecs including
ffmpeg, divx, xvid, as many as i could get my hands on really, and it played all without a problem except
for the hrhd ac3 5.1 disc.

i tested using a big tv, (48" rear projection) and i couldnt see any pixellation on it, and i really was looking
for it as i was debating buying one.

i was annoyed about the hr thing, as i was expecting them to work, but in the end i went for it anyway,
regular hd rips werent pixellated so that wouldnt be an issue, (the only thing i have in hrhd is weeds s1,
and the first half of weeds s2, so its not really an issue for me) and its multi-region, which i like.

sorry it doesnt meet your requirements, but in lieu of any other suggestions may be something to
consider

based on reading recommendations on the internet, i bought a phillips dvp
5960/37. it is relatively cheap (70 usd) and i have yet to have any issues.

i can not validate how well it would work for your television though.

check videohelp.com; they have an extensive, searchable database with specs, etc. dvd players-left side
of page...
