"1080p dvd player" upconverting dvd players act like they are so special mean
while my computer upconverts the video to hd res too by simply playing the dvd
on my 1680x1050 screen. and hey also upconverts the original doom to 945p 😛
(zdoomgl) but that doesn't mean hd quality

but anyway. the 720p files here are x264 which has not been implemented to dvd
players yet (kinda good cause no retarded rules like don't use this quality
increasing setting cause your dumb player wont play it then as seen with xvid)
so best option is to down convert it to dvd video or convert it to 1.36-46gb
xvid video at 720p
the reason x264 is used for hd is because 1.07gb x264 looks better then 1.36gb
xvid (which the scene use to do for 720p)

use your new tv as a second monitor for your computer.

what you want is 720p xvid not divx
they are the same but xvid uses better encoding methods
one way is to install avisynth, download virtualdubmod. put the line below in
notpad and save as whatever.avs
directshowsource("file.mkv" )

open mkv in vdubmod, click streams, streams list, demux file as file.ac3, close
vdubmod
open avs in vdubmod, click streams, streams list, double click stream so lines
are through it, close that winodw, click video >> fast recompress, video >>
compression, choose xvid, set to first pass, ok junk to get back to first
window, save as >> click dont run know..., name 1stpass.avi, go back to xvid
settings set to 2ndpass, make sure it says kbytes, put in x variable (desired
file size (suggest 1.36-1.43) in gb *1024*1024 - ac3 file size = x). ok that
stuff save as desired name.avi
