depends on where you're from. every country has different laws.
in the us it's not legal (i believe), yet in the netherlands you may download
audio/video but not software and upload neither audio/video nor software.

edit: this in relation to copyright-protected content of course. if it is not
protected, then it is not an issue at all.

you could probably get away with it in usa under fair use laws if you say you
are using it for non profit, non screening (in front of big audience), and
educational use (scene filming, directing, other excuses)

statement i have saved for this kind of issues
-----------------------------------------------
"look up "usc title 17, section 107: limitations of exclusive rights: fair use"
it basically means that we american's can legally download tv shows (which most
air for free to begin with) as long as its for non profit and non big public
showing kinda stuff. also bring up that its for research in a film or directing
career

there was a good talk on it at torrentspy but the whole torrent the comments
where on got deleted (no suprise) but i saved it

one quote from a guy that seemed to know what he was talking about is "however,
if you're an american, you have usc title 17, section 107: limitations on
exclusive rights: fair use (if you don't know what this is, google it).... this
will protect you and they can't and won't do s**t. don't be afraid."

i dont know if you can use this to get you out of downloading hbo/showtime stuff
which costs money to view it any way on tv.

most likely that was a worthless automated message to scare you and they cant do
squat. just like the mpaa saying some kid got fined several hundred thousands
dollars for downloading a movie (its just bogus junk to scare us (common thing
done in the usa).

but use protection like peerguardian2 and utorrent ip filter, and enable
encryption in your torrent client (options >> preferences. bittorent, turn
protocol encryption outgoing to enabled. p ress ok.)"

are you really all that concerned about the legality of this site?.odd how
people are discussing it as if they actually care, when they know about
bittorrent and atleast 90% of things on it are copyright infringing.and being
from south africa, you should care too much about waiting forever to watch your
favorite show than where you get them.

but anyone who's actually worried about local copyright laws might as well get
rid of their internet connection, if not pc, cause you won't find anything
half decent
online thats 100% "safe" or to download.

imzadi, your sarcasm has slipped a bit 🙂
i think you need to step it up a notch or two. if aydin didn't even catch it
(this time), then the tamagotchi's have no hope 😂

i heard of this thingy that has its own dedicated site...
not sure how popular it is, but it's supposed to be 100% legit, if you can
believe 🙂 crazy i know, but let us know what you think. enjoy

you're right, i guess it is a good service for getting content.now i just
gotta
get out my millions, and paying for the content should be fine, certainly much
better than downloading and getting it free.why didn't i try it sooner.

probably 'cause you don't live in the us?

because i'd be happy to waste money buying content online if i lived where its
available?.is that how you feel, you'd want to pay for the service if you
could?.

personally i would. tv shows are the only thing i download as
i do not have any
other source. all the rest, music, software, movies, i do buy. on top i buy the
tv shows i watch once they come out as complete season dvds.

where do you live exactly, 'cause are the dl shows and dvds just your source of
us tv, or are they really the only shows you watch at all?.

yes
yes

the way you say you have no other sources, either local broadcasts are that
bad, or because of their language, or both maybe.

and dvds are definetly worth the quality and the extra stuff, but i don't see
how itunes offers anything over bt, it basically offers the same stuff at
similiar quality, with nothing interesting or extra, but with price tags.

/me owned :d

anyway, i completely agree with aydin1954 on this.

i wouldn't hesitate for a second purchasing and downloading legal downloads as
long as they

a) were available when the original aired
b) were in hd
c) were available to me outside of the us

currently the only tv i watch comes from torrents _or_ dvd boxsets (apart from
news, which i get streamed online, for free).

sure, most of my favorite shows are aired here (in some capacity), but
generally they are a full year behind the us schedule, and as if that wasn't
enough they have friggin subtitles and are normally broadcast in low-def and
stereo. come on, in this day and age with digital broadcasts you'd think they
would broadcast the subs as an optional extra, but no, they are fucking
mandatory. hdtv content - yeah, there's like a handful channels available (for
a premium fee).

i want hd and 5.1 sound, why the hell else did i spend [quite a lot of] money
on a home theatre setup?

locally produced shows sucks donkeydick in comparison to [most] us shows, and
the government charges a [license] fee to view on-the-air broadcasts
(unfortunately quite normal in europe) - what the hell for? any channels
actually airing non-local shows are commercial-driven stations (meaning they
don't see any of the licensing money anyway).

so, once paid-for downloaded content is available outside the us i'd stop
leeching tv in a second. as for music, movies and software - i already have
licensed copies of [most of] my software. i own several hundred cds (and good
old vinyls) as well as dvds, hddvds and blurays. do you see me downloading
games for my xbox360 or ps2? no, because they are available locally as and
when they are released worldwide.
