hey guys,
this goes out to the great people capping my favorite shows. i love what you
guys and gals do. you're doing quality work, but please avoid capping canadian
broadcasts. i don't think i'm crazy, but i've always seen a picture quality
difference compared to us signals. on canuck signals, the brights are too
white and the darks are too black. so besides funnier commercials, the us
stations give better color and detail. i don't know the technical details
about what they're doing differently (and i would be best friends forever with
anybody who could tell me), but please cap those superior us broadcasts only.
it's always a disappointment when i finish downloading a show and see that
global chevron bug or the comedy network's cover over. it's not the end of the
road for canada-based cappers. since canadian stations carry shows from
different us networks, there are plenty of schedule conflicts (at least in
toronto). i've noticed there are no signal blocks for shows including 'how i
met your mother', 'my name is earl', and 'the office'.

please, avoid capping any canadian broadcasts in the future.

keep up the good stuff. thanks for all the hd caps.

dude, you're not going to get through to any of the people capping shows on this
board. they need to stay far underground so they don't get caught and so they
can keep delivering us quality releases. as for canadian caps being inferior to
the us ones, i disagree. in fact, some shows are only available from canadian
sources. for example, any of the hr hdtv releases of stargate this season have
been from movie central. sci fi doesn't broadcast in hd. if you're that
concerned about quality maybe you should start capping your own shows (really
isn't as difficult as you might imagine). one final word, you should just be
thankful that these shows are being released at all, and not worry quite as much
about something so insignificant.

wow thats a pretty lame post first of all capers dont read any of these forums,
eztv is a ways down the food chain of these releases. there is nothing wrong
with shows broadcast in canada in no way is it superior. we use the exact same
technology for most of the stations. the diffrence would be in who is capping
into so i would just be happy with what i get and to me i have never noticed any
difference except maybe that some of the canadian shows are better bcause they
are hdtv vs no hdtv from us stations. now i am canadian so i might just be
really pissed off at such a lame statement but what ever i have never had
probelms with canadians rips and im happy with what ever i get.

i was going to hire a skywriter, but it was overcast today. then i thought i'd
put it to paper and leave it in my desk drawer, but my penmanship is really
poor. so i posted it online where it can be read. far underground with their
computers and hd signals, even cappers can read this. i don't demand they
capture us broadcasts or cap nothing, i'm just noting a broadcast difference,
and suggesting they aim to capture from us broadcasts over canadian whenever
possible. further, i prefer canadian broadcasts over nothing. don't
misinterperet my disdain for broadcasters as resentment towards cappers, their
work, canadians, or canada.

honestly, i had never heard of movie central until just now, but its monoploy
over hd presentations for that particular program is an obvious exception. i
appreciate the info. capping the canadian signal cannot be avoided. consider,
however, the case where cappers didn't know about movie central's hd broadcast
of stargate, wouldn't you openly suggest that it be captured instead? it's
called feedback, and it's in an effort towards something called improvement.
this is the best place i could find to leave my feedback. no one has to register
to view this forum, and it's on a popular distribution site. so don't be so sure
it will not be read. if there's a place to pursue this more directly, then tell
me, but don't tell me to chuck my suggestion if you don't know why it can't be done.

in the interest of high quality caps (whatever country they originate from),
here's an example of the difference. i took screen caps from two episodes and
uploaded them. no retouching. compare the detail of his hair and shirt.
nbc - s01e22 - http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/2141/nbcjy7.jpg
global - s01e23 - 23http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/7246/globalyv7.jpg

i believe the video files originated from this torrent

*looking at the difference in screenshots*
dude, you're being overly anal.
buy the dvd release if its of such concern. sheesh!
people who complain about free stuff are ridiculous.

looks as though they are both nbc to me (watermarks) and the only issue is a
slight orange tint on the one labeled as global. this is just the setup the
cappers use and the orange tint wouldnt be noticable unless you were watch one
cap on one screen and the other cap on another screen to compare. in the end you
dont need to pay for it and you dont even have to watch 12 minutes of ads with it.

god i cant believe your serious. at first i thought you were joking and almost
coughed my brains out when i realized you were serious. its funny how you
think your us signal is in some way superior to our crappy canadian signal.
you dont think we have the same equipment as you down here in our igloo's?

no but seriously i hope you've re-considered your statement by now. just
because you found a couple samples where the us cap was better then the
cadadian cap does not in any way mean us has better signals lol. its funny how
you just except all canadian cappers just to stop capping on the stop of a
dime because you the god almighty says so. i can find you a million examples
of canadian caps being better quality then us caps and believe me its in no
reason because our signal is better then the us signal. like said above the
only reason for this is there are many different cappers and many differ
capper groups. the scene is big and everyone has different capping machines
and different people encode there releases differently.

i'd continue ranting but its getting late and gotta get up in a few hours. if
you seriously believe all canadian cappers should stop capping because you
think your signal is superior then i think your to far gone for any of us to
bring you back to reality.

people, please, read slower or something. this isn't a problem with canadian
cappers, it's a problem with their tv signals. the one marked 'global' was
broadcast by global. download the episode and watch the top right corner for the
bug, or take my word for it. global isn't owned by fox or nbc. global is its own
canadian network. they buy us programs individually and they're not locked to
one us network because the crtc forbids it. global can air fox's the simpsons
and then nbc's the office. depending on the contract, the canadian network can
cover the us network's bug or they have to relocate theirs. so occasionally you
will see the nbc logo when in on corner and global's in another.

cappers will have different methods, and with all do respect to them, this
problem doesn't originate in caps. it's a problem i can see on tv. the next time
the president makes a speech or the game runs a little long, compare a show on a
us network to itself on a canadian network. when the us broadcast is delayed,
there's no canadian block. with no capping involved, there will be an obvious
picture difference. superior or not, i prefer the us picture quality. so what is
free here? the tv i'm watching, the cable that supplies content, or the
electricity that makes it all work? the broadcast quality is poor, so i should
go buy the dvd next september? look, since people are capping, i am suggesting
that caps be made at different times. notice, i provided examples when us
broadcasts are regularly uninterupted in canada. i didn't suggest canadian
cappers live on the streets this winter. now if the picture is all the same to
you, what do you care if it's capped at 9 instead of 8?

picture this, guy says to capper, "change the channel for a sharper picture."
capper says, "hey thanks, i didn't realize." everybody who downloads benefits.
that's what is all boils down to.

people complain about sound out of sync, too much pixelation, or too obscure a
codec, and a proper is released. i mention different broadcast quality and a
bunch of you guys flip.

relax, don't make this about americans versus canadians. this certainly has
nothing to do with your igloo, so i wish you wouldn't bring it up. just because
i used the words us and canadian, people get hypr-defensive. i'm sure canadian
cappers are perfectly smart, capable people, it was really never in question,
but the broadcasts you're working with are crap.

who exactly are you people? are you the cappers who don't like being told what
to do? are you global execs, struggling to turn a profit? or are you the
satelite techs who refuse to learn new tricks? if not, then why are you so
pissed off?
