hi guys n gals,

from the uk, and on a capped internet package, so i can\\\\\\\'t download much and
therefore generally stick to lost and prison break.

however, lost (s3) has just finished until next year, and prison break (s2) has
only got a couple more weeks to go, so my question is, what shall i download
over the winter to replace it?

both heroes and dexter seem to be getting rave reviews, but the premise of
dexter seems a a bit silly, although maybe that\\\'s just me.

would love to hear your views.

cheers,

m.

don't go by the premise. dexter & heroes are both receiving rave reviews for a
reason. they're imo the 2 best new shows. if you haven't watched either yet, i
suggest picking up all the eps and watching (in order of course).

almost all the major shows will be taking a longer break this year during the
holidays... but there will be some great new half-season length shows during the
mid-season break to get us through the downtime... so dont assume there will be
nothing good on... in fact, some of the mid-season filler looks better than alot
of the regular stuff..

first of all i suggest 'the black donnellys'.. it should be airing in the
thursday night timeslot on nbc where er normally is... the pilot for this show
was amazing.. snatch it up if you can still find a torrent.. it is really
that good!

i also suggest 'traveler' on abc... it is also worth getting the pilot if you
can still find a torrent for it too..

i also hear good things about 'daybreak' which will be on wednesdays on abc...
but i havent actually seen the pilot yet for this one personally..

we should all be looking forward to these mid-season sleeper hits, rather than
dreading the downtime..

heroes is a must! much better than s3 of lost (so far anyway!) battlestar is a
again quite high. also what about some of the older stuff? only just found out
about s3 of the 4400(quite similar to heroes tho!).

heroes had directors with not much experience for the first 3-4 eps and it shows
,after that they hired better directors but it's becoming a bit boring because
not much is happening and it doesn't make the viewer eager to see the next ep
(like lost or 24).but if u are a teenager or crazy about comic books u'll love it

jericho is pure crap lame actors, lame image and the plot....

battlestar galactica if u haven't seen the previous seasons don't start
now, start from the begining or u won't like it

if u want a new show studio 60 is the best, if not and u haven't already checked
em try house or grey's anotomy (this season is not as funny as it used to be)

someone mentioned the black donnelly a promicing pilot somewhat similar to the
boondock saints ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144117/ )so it might be worth it.

dexter. it is very original and well acted. it's also early in the season and
there have yet to be filler eps like heroes seems to be doing (ie, with sod all
going on)

while heroes is good, i think you'll get more enjoyment out of dex.

i'd second krypto on traveler and black donneleys, the screener pilots were both really promising, traveler
is a swine though as its not starting til jan so you're gonna miss most of the break you're on about

of the currently airings, studio60, if you liked west wing.

if you're capped i'd skip jericho, i'm also in the uk and i get it but i've no cap on my isp, its so-so.

realjjj is right about battlestar, its a very good show but coming in to it now is just going to be shit, there
was a recap special but you'd miss so much to just rely on that, and i suspect you're looking for new
shows starting this season judging by your post, if you're cap isnt too harsh you could probably find
archives of battlestar around so you could catch up

heroes is good, you named lost and pb, both are sprawling stories, as is heroes. 'the nine', also a
sprawling story, and again i liked the pilot, not gotten round to watching my dls of the show yet though,
oh and thats probably going to get cancelled before long as its not getting many viewers stateside.

you're going to get a lot of suggestions as everyone has their own favourites, so you'll have to narrow the
field yourself, tvrage.com and tv.com will probably be useful in that regard

good luck, and enjoy

thanks for all your ideas. have watched the first couple of heroes, and really
enjoying it so far. my wife also likes it, and if she\'s happy, then i\'m happy
(or should that be, if she\'s happy then i\'m not getting grief...lol)

as a uk resident my self i would swap lost and prison break with heroes and
dexter aswell. although i only started watching dexter 4 hours ago, i'm
hooked, didn't notice the good reviews and missed any pilot for it, but have
to say i'm really suprised by it after deciding to download the first few
today. very well made show, and nothing really like it out there, the final
epsiode (out so far)is just about to finish downloading and i'll watch them
tomorrow i think.

other new shows worth a look, day break, the nine, jericho (although it's
starting to feel the same each episode, think it will get good again).

edit: didn't notice this was an old(ish) thread, hehe.

i just started watching dexter as well.. really good show. add that to my list! 🙂

torchwood is pretty cool too, for those that like that kinda thing. i have a
feeling it wouldn't be the ops style though.

i enjoy jericho, sure, its not as good as 24 or prison break, but its pretty
good. sleeper cell series 2 when it comes out in a couple of weeks should be
good too.

"dexter" will win emmys and golden globes. it's dark without being stereotypical
serial killer stuff. with dex, it's all about the unique characters. plus the
cinematography's simply beautiful. i love the colors.

"heroes" is entertaining but i consider it light fodder - you see it when you
need to switch off your brain. casting is awful and like a previous poster said
the early episodes are terrible. however i'm glad that i stuck by it because it
keeps getting better. i bet it's gonna get a second season.

"day break" is also promising but i'm just worried that the convoluted plot is
gonna fall apart if the writers aren't careful.

just go for the sure bets like dex, studio 60 and battlestar galactica and
they'll keep you happy for weeks.

lost is annoying, they'll never get anywhere with the plot

pb, heroes, daybreak >>> lost (seriously)
