hi, was just wondering if anyone could help.
after downloading a few 720 episodes to play on my standalnoe divx player, and
them not working due to the resolution width, i was after a standalone player
that could handle them.
does anyone know of any??

any help appreciated

cheers avo

also another problem is that the 720p files are x264 which is not divx or xvid.
i'm quite sure no stand alones play x264 yet. so best chance now is hooking up a
pc or laptop to the tv/projector with component/vga/dvi/hdmi (or what ever works
thats not a sd hook up like s-video or component)

component can handle hd(up to 1080i), s-video, composite and rgb scart does
not. ideally you'd want to use something with hdmi 1.4 support that will be
able to handle 1080p in the future and can also trasfer your audio over the
same connection. (so like a decent pc or media-box) obviously this all
depends on what display you're connecting into.

i have a samsung 37" lcd with hdmi (although not 1.4 i don't think) but i use
my 360 to stream sd files (the majority of what i download) via component,
when i download x264 files i hook my laptop up via vga and connect the audio
with a seperate 3.5mm->2rca cable, i have no surround sound so i don't have to
worry about 5.1 support atm.

i think this is the most promising one at the moment.

popcornhour.com

it's still a new product and have some issues, but they are working hard on
improving it releasing new firmwares with bug fixes and new features.

i know that not everyone has one, but i hacked my old xbox (that would be the
original) to use xbmc (xbox media center) which plays all the files, including
the high res and 720p files, using the hd component cable with the xbox, xbmc
can output up to 1080i (but you might as well set it to 720p since that's the
max res files are on here anyway). it can even stream the files right from your
pc using network shares.

by the way, any version of the xbox (even the newest ones) are software hackable
now, you don't even need to open them (although i want to put in a bigger hard
drive than the standard 8gb)

i use mkv2vob to remux mkv x264/ac3/dts to play them on ps3.(don't got a media
box for mkv's) takes only some few minutes to convert it. and plays shockingly
perfect with hdmi1.3 @ 1080p 🙂
