the other point being that you have pissed off not only a number of the admins,
but many of the regulars too. so i think you would be the last place anyone
would go to for help.
you've started off on a bad foot, and it's hard to go back from that.
my 2 cents worth.
solution to both, for aydin: windows' built in ftp daemon sucks terribly, and
even in my darkest days a few years back (mcse *shudder* i was young and
foolish!) i never used it. most of the problem relates to directory transversal
and how server 2k3 deals with it. rfc spec says you're supposed to list the
directory then pull the file each time, and it tends to screw up on the ascii
data (aka ftp commands and ls results) after a binary file transfer. there's a
few ways to get around it, but none are pretty and they tend to break either
your existing setup or whenever windows update does anything with your tcp
stack. the easiest solution is to use serv-u ftpd, which has a much better admin
interface, actually complies with the rfc spec, and will happily interface with
active directory, should you need it.
i have a joke about how he'd fix it, but it's incredibly racist
so i can't post
it. :/ it's not very good anyway, just the whole incredibly racist thing.
when i try to access a torrent all i get is a white page with the following line:
"error:you have an error in your sql syntax; check the manual that corresponds
to your mysql server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1"
now i have googled it and searched my regular computer forums and found other
people wih the same problem however not a working solution, ofcourse i might
have missed something or maybe someone here has found a fix for it.
i have tried opening torrents in both firefox and explorer and they both deliver
the same message, i have the latest versions of both.
i vote nay on stopping zeteics spreading crazyness, actually yay
for spreading
crazyness!
more seriously though i have a computer problem so here goes...
i\'ve got 3 computers on the same highspeed cisco router, all had been fine but
suddenly 2 started to give problems with gmail a few weeks ago, other webmail
and forum posts too. (in one web forum private message posting is fine but
public is not!)
(sending is the worst effected function but all function in gmail and similar
are effected, one of the computers can reliably send if the cookies and cahche
in it is emptied just before sending but it has no effect on the other)
the 2 with issues are xp, the other is vista. seemingly the issue can\'t be
traced to software on the machines.
it is not effected by what browser is used.
the problem has some level of variability.
it isn\'t an issue of port forwarding or ip addresses.
i plan on running a test where i rule out the router by plugging one of the
effected computers directly into the billion 7100 (or similar #?) modem.
updating the modems firmware is also under consideration but since one pc is
uneffected there are doubts it can help.
also one of the pc\'s had another similtanious problem of being extremely slow
to fetch even normal web pages, this was mysteriously fixed by trying a
different (luckily unused) port on the router. (it has not yet been tested if
plugging the unaffected pc in the port used by one effected changes which is
effected, something to try i guess)
anyone got any ideas?
check your mtu settings, switch your router off for half an hour, take 2 aspirin
and call an exorcist in the morning.
why use a windows server they suck use linux centos makes a good server i use
postfix and fetchmail sent to smtp localhost works very well and it does not use
much ram like exchange server does and proftp rocks
