Shut off by ISP - Forums - EZTV - TV Torrents Online

when i got home tonight my isp, insight cable, had shut down my connection and i
had a note to call them. i called and they said that they had notification from
universal studios and mgm that i was sharing copyrighted materials, in this case
and episode of monk and stargate atlantis. i pretty much get all of my tv
exclusively from torrents now since it is so much more convenient and i don't
get pissed off with rerun after rerun.

where are they getting this information about what i have and how can i avoid
their roving eyes in the future?

hmmmm...

switch to utorrent, it's less of a resource hog, and download peer guardian.

you know when you connect to seeders and leechers? some of those seeders and
leechers are "inside" people who copy your ip and track it to your isp.

tor and privoxy are beautiful things. download, install, and read the
instructions on how to use them with your torrent client. it was pretty easy to
set up in azureus, from my experience. this way your ip address is passed
through a proxy server to mask your real ip. there are also better, faster
proxy services out there for a price. google is your friend on how-to's.

ya moblock is great if you're running linux. it works
with all clients and has a cron job to check for updated lists
daily.

this is just a very teenie sample of the kind of shit that will
try to connect to you on torrents (from moblock logs):

blocked in: ip pools possible macrovision,hits: 12,src: 81.129.142.115
blocked in: ip pools possible macrovision,hits: 13,src: 81.129.142.115
blocked in: ip pools possible macrovision,hits: 14,src: 81.129.142.115
blocked in: time warner telecom,hits: 1,src: 66.194.155.200
blocked in: time warner telecom,hits: 2,src: 66.194.155.200
blocked in: time warner telecom,hits: 3,src: 66.194.155.200

so you really ought to run some blocklist... otherwise you risk a isp notice, or
getting tons of fake torrent pieces from anti-p2p companies (like macrovision).
