so it is only the 350 mb and the 1gb mkv files

i play this stuff through my xbox 1 running xbmc and it wont play the mkv files
because it has a hard time with the codec being a old 733mhz 64mb ram

but the 700 mb files play fine and look great upscaled to 720p

time to upgrade to one of those nice pentium quad core machines! what the hell

yea i have a quad core q6600 g0 but its not connected to the tv and used for
other things mostly

and wtf you have never herd of xbmc? it plays every type of file out there
no matter what it is, if it is a media file of some type it will play it, it
will play things that your computer cant and you cant get the codec for it xbmc
will play it no problem

it is the best media center extender or whatever that can play videos over a
network with the exception of .mkv files and high bit rate hd files - yea it is
old but still it is the best way to play content on your tv, it is the only one
that you can not only change the aspect ratio but have complete control over the
size of the video, you can stretch and zoom with a 0.00 scale so there is
precise changes as well as audio control with advance and delay in .01 second
increments to fix the "lip sync" issues some content has

the only hd files i have got it to play is 1280x720 2.5mbps divx and 1080i/p
25mbps .ts files (they require almost no cpu power unlike .mkv files)

gone are they indeed. the scene is not releasing any hr

asking, whinging, etc...

sounds like a load os $#!+ to me. i have perfect upscaling and increment
control over a pc. my audio drivers work as low as 5ms with a 1.5ms setting on
the software control panel im scared to try, which is going to be sure to fool
the quickess kid on the block below 8.5ms. anyway ther are heaps of decoders
that allow you to sync latencies for pcs. i use zomm player that does that
sexy zoom aspect locked thing with a simple mouse scroll. ac3 gives me ultimate
real time control over ac3 audio with zoom player and add any codec i want. i
f it doesnt work use damed vlc player is the easy way out.

instead of bother someone for their bandwidth say, you use your big quad huh!.

true true but other than the limitation of .mkv files and most high bit rate hd
files it plays everything - yea there are alternatives out there for the pc (and
you can even run xbmc on os x so it could play hd files then but still os x has
this stuff anyways)

well i have had some .asf files that wont play even with vlc but xbmc plays them
fine

hell it will even play a file without a container, like say a file without an
extension to it - shows up as a "file" in windows explorer under the file type
column

also it will unrar stuff and play it that way so you can keep everything rared
up and save space, sorta

but yea a pc can do all of this its just that my pc isnt connected to my tv and
at this time it isnt feasible to do so since it is my main production machine
and is used for rendering and such
