500 Gig External HDD

i paid $170 6 months ago.. but now im going to get 1 terrabite for around $250
(i dont have enough space)

surely a 500 gig hdd will suffice. i already have an 80 gig, a 40 gig, and a
250 external. i try not to use my internal hdd to much.

you like to think so, but i have kept adding drives, so now i have a 200 as
main like you it is always 60-70 % empty, then a 300 400 120 200 and even now
i have to store my music on the missus pc (additional 80) and some of the tv
on my sons (i use half his 120), and a 60 and a 80 on the kitchen pc

i am searching for a reasonable nas either 1 or 2 tb to centralise, i had to
add a couple of old ext 40g to the other two boys pc's just so they could have
some room, since their internal 40g are full.

if i get a nas tb, i can give the 3 boys a larger c: drive each.

you would think so... but you would be wrong.. i have 250.. 250.. 500.. 500..
and external 500.. and all i have is mabee 50gig left.. i have a quoter of
60gig download per month.. so no.. i need a lot more space.. oh i forgot the
laptop..250.. not much left on that. i'm thinking of getting a 1500gig
external.. should last a while untill something bigger comes out!!

i just got another wd one. blue vertical line, seems to be nice. i just wish it
was actually '500" gigs, and not the bytes that amount upto 500 "gigs" lol.

they should let us eztv folks make em.

i waited for mine to go onsale. i got one for 89.99 on frys.com. but mine was
internal and i bought a case so it became an external.

i got a really good usb 320 gig harddrive from best buy for only 79 bucks,
it's simpletech, and great quality(so far)

so 500 for 120 isn't too much of a stretch if it was a really good deal.

hi can you help me? i'm to decide which hdd i'm going to by. i have two options
- internal hdd or external hdd, i've a really old pc (bought it 6 years ago,
updated once only by adding ram and changing video card)but i'm planning to buy
a laptop, so chanses of buying external hdd are very high. but what hdd can you
advise? thank you in advance.

well i got lacie external 500.. but the heat it generates is a bit too much.. i
would recomend getting a "my book".. these well ventalated and run at half the
temp of lacie.... this is message from aust (down under)

yup, i concur with the external wd my book. mine is 750 gb! yes, that's right,
i did say 750 big ones! of course, with operating stuff, it was 700 gb free
space, and i'm at about 650 free now.

i got mine off a dude on the local craigslist, and paid %180.00 for it! may have
been robbed. may have gotten it for a steal! dunno. dont even really care. i
looked and looked and looked and that's what i ended up going with.....

only downside is that i don't have enough ram on the original internal 40gb, and
i can't run utorrent and do anything else on the web now, as the usb is too
slow! soo..... that's the down side. but for my purposes it works just fine. if
you needed to be running torrents all the time and doing other things... well,
just have more ram! lol.
