site becoming more and more convoluted?

now i dont want to be an annoying naysayer, but sometimes someone has to
articulately voice their views in order for their point to be heard.
i have nothing but respect for this site and what it does.

firstly, ill say it so we can all just move on,
i was pretty annoyed that i have to reload all my shows into mypage, but i
understand that these things happen, so there is no point crying.

when i first came to this site, i considered it a godsend,
no longer did i have to trawl the torrent sites,
searching for the latest episodes of my favourite show,
while having to aviod the fakes, virii, popups and seedless torrents
and that is why, myself and many others are still here,
through all the domain debarcles, multiple logins and mypage losses
it is still a great site which is very usefull and worthy of respect.

however, i am beginning to find this website becoming less functional
as it once was, certain things are starting to annoy me.

when i click a new episode link in mypage, it doesnt just open the download box
like it used to. it takes me to that shows episode page, where i have to scroll
down and click the exact same episode link.

but then even that doesnt open up the download box, it sends me to btchat or
mininova, where i have to either click another link (mininova) or sit through
some popups (btchat) (yes i know i can disable them, but its just one more task
in this long annoying post)
and then once thats done i must navigate back to eztv

i know, it may seem that im whingeing about having to click my mouse 5 times,
the point that im trying to make is, the whole point of the site is
making it ez for me to get my tv right?

so surely there is some way to get this baby back to the oneclick wonderkid it
once was?

if btchat insists on giving us the run-around and doesnt want this sites peers
and seeders beefing up their torrents, im sure some others would, like seedpeer?

now i dont know if im going to get admin edited, or flamed by this forum, but
that is my opinion. do with it, what you will

yes, i agree many things on this site suck. i know, i coded them (except the
myshows section). having to look through the code to check what was required
from the database i determined that yes, it lacks greatly.

personally i am amazed you don't use the tabbing feature of ie7+/ff/opera/etc.
as we do not host any torrent files, you have to live with the way of
downloading torrent files work. so there will never be a 'one click' solution.
we are working on automated solutions with other torrent hosting sites.

all points made may be valid. however people seem to be missing a very
critical point.

none of the admins here get paid a red cent for all of their time and effort.
this is, in effect, a hobby......all be it a very expensive and time consuming
one. no money is made in providing this excellent service. all their time and
effort is given for the love of it.

so my view is, if i have to click my mouse a couple of extra times to get what
i want here, so be it. this is still the best site there is for getting my tv
fix. and if people don't like it, simply go elsewhere, or create your own damn
site.

and before anyone starts flaming, i am not aiming this at the posters thus far
on this thread. more so to the annoying tamagotchis that constantly pop up and
think that it is their god given right to bitch to everybody about the problems
with the site.

especially if microsoft builds them, but i believe they will also fail in making
the ice cream.


anyways, adding shows to myshows list is working again. oh also, having actually
used the myshows section, the list of shows you add have the mirror links in it
(ie: [mirror 1] [mirror 2]) so your 5 click approach is a waste of time on your
part as you seem to be clicking the wrong links.

i hadnt noticed the mirror links in mypage, you may be right,
but why does clicking the name of the episode not direct me to the same link as
mirror 1 as it used to? instead im sent to the shows page.

im not trying to be critical, i understand there is no money being made here,and
i respect the work done here, but open discussion is how things improve 🙂

i was just making the point that it used to be one click, i used to click the
name of the episode, and bang, my utorrent would ask me where to save the file
i cant remember how long ago, but it was.

now it just feels that im jumping through a series of hoops to get each file i want

cause we all know that the leechers that are annoyed hold top priority =p

sorry, i can't be anything other than sarcastic when people get peeved about
stuff they do not contribute an ounce to.

you all download free tv shows in a legally gray zone on the internet, and imo
have no right to complain about anything about the sites serving it to you. eztv
provides these things free of charge, they make no profit and they have to put
up with shit all the time. life with it, or don't download torrents, there are
much worse sites around than eztv and bt-chat.

i don't know what you all are talking about. if you've got firefox/ie/whatever
set up to automatically open torrent links in your client when clicked, and you
middle-click a link on eztv (to btchat), the new tab will load and then open up
the torrent about 10 seconds later. one single click is still all that's
required, if you don't count closing the tab afterwards. and, of course, if you
set up an rss feed, there's no clicking at all, and you start downloading your
ep within ~20mins of it being uploaded.

well i must say, this thread has gone both ways, while some have submitted valid
and helpful advice, others not so much.

and as for the comment about not careing what the "annoyed leechers" think
without contributing an ounce,
perhaps this is my contribution? a topic of discussion about how the site may
posibly be improved? is this not a forum for discussing the site and things
relating to it?

it was actually built to allow people to blab on about crap and discuss about
shows. it's aim was never actually about the site. funny that eh?

also,
as for all the talk on the fact that were all in the legal 'grey zone'
and p2p bastard pirates from hell dont deserve it easy.

theres a something to be said in taking pride in what you do, whether its
dealing drugs or delivering free meals to crippled orphans,

those who create this site for free obviously take alot of pride in this site
and the quality of its operation.

as such, any discussion on how to possibly improve said service, is an
indication that its users care enough about the service to take the time to
write posts like these.

theres a positive attitude! rather than try and improve something
constructively, we will all just pick up our bat and ball and go somewhere else!

ps the drugs to crippled kids made me nearly poo my pants laughing

i don\'t know what your setup is, but i click on the episode name on the front
page or the link in the rss email, up pops btchat website asking if i want to
download. (happy with that security feature thanks) then utorrent asks what i
want to do with it, (again happy with the security cheers, plus thats software
not the site...)

if i was uphappy with having to monitor my downloads, i could set it up to
automatically download with the rss feeds...

i get one click on the eztv site.. the rest are another website or my software.
or i could set it up to be totally automated....

perhaps rather than bitching about how you have to click your mouse 5 times,
appreciate the effort that the admins and coders have made to make it as ez as
they can for now.

as said before, if you don\'t like it, find elsewhere to \"improve\"... or hell,
start your own site!
