video encoding help!!

hi guys, first time poster long time downloader!!
basically i am trying to copy my family guy dvd to my pc (which i have done) and
turn each episode into an avi file for archiving!

i can't seem to get the file sizes below 600mb an episode though which is odd
cause all the files i dl are 175mb!

can i ask what u software/settings you use to encode? it would be much appreciated!

i wasn't worried so much about the regions, more about the pal thing, coz i know
that we seriously interlace things over here, but a quick google turned up avi
synth! 🙂 worked like a charm!
