can i just suggest people start slowly but surely move towards
only downloading
720p versions of series from now on? quality difference is just crazy-big to not
go for.
i mean .. back in 1997 ... did you download the 400mb asf version of matrix or
did you search a few hours longer for a real xvid version? can you imagine if
they kept using that asf format and it would be still a standard now?
what a lame way to try to get more seeders for the 720p version.

my cable co. allows a total 60g per month down and up....so i wont be dl'ing a
1100 mb file anytime soon. 350mb is better than anything i record on media
center, so it will have to suffice for now, plus it fits on a dvd-r nicely, esp
2 or 2 1/2 hour movies.

as has been stated by others, the 350mb editions are just fine as far as i'm
concerned, as i watch the show on my computer monitor, where they look just
fine, and because i personally have no interest in storing or archiving shows.
if i want to watch something again or have the entire run of a show at my
fingertips then i buy it on dvd.
on top of that, not keen on having the amount of shows that i can download to
watch any given month basically halved by limiting myself to the 700mb
versions, the quality bump just isnt significant enough for my purposes to
justify that.

thanks from australia. channel 10 didnt even finish series 3 and if you want the
sci fi channel it costs extra.
350mb is fine as i only get 12gb per month to download. i would say mr anderson
is in australia? interest rates are climbing for houses and everyone is battling
to keep our heads above water.

ps i hated seeing "dr who premier next week" in the corner for the whole show.
it was a pain but the episode was great!

i would download the larger versions if i had a higher
download quota, but like
lots of people, i have to limit myself.
if i want the higher res versions, i'll buy the series on hd dvd or blu ray.
only be bluray now sadly, but yeah i watch mine on pc, only because i dont
wanna wait, maybe a year and half for tv to catch up, we are just airing
season 3, its sad and they wonder why people prefer to d/l

ok sure i said this once but id dosnt seem to think so, it will have to be blu
ray now, hd is dead and i watch this on 22" pc screen and looks good, but
id prefer to watch on tv but hell in aus we would wait 2 years i reckon, they
are only into ep 5 or 6 on season 3 and thats only on hdtv

i'm surprised this release hasn't been nuked yet. there are some horrible cuts
in it.

why should we do that. it takes to freaking long to download such a big file.
and you can't watch the 720p on a divx player or dvd player. and i like to watch
my shows on the tv screen not a computer screen
the 350 mb file is still the best because you can watch it on a compatible divx
player and therefor on a tv set.

also you can perfectly store the 350mb files on a dvdr files and hold them for
archive use. also the quality is almost just like dvd if not on par with it.
perfect for a divx player and the tv set we have is 37 inch tv and they look
amazing on it played in on the dvd/divx player

fyi, ps3 can play both divx and xvids.
in fact i played a 720p rip of sga on it and it looks incredible.

but you can't put a cd-r or a dvdr in a ps3. it can only play divx/xvid if it on
the ps3 harddrive

i noticed one brief blip on the screen that is a fraction of a second and barely
noticeable. did anyone else notice anything else was off?
for me the file looked fine, and i tend to be picky.

dwm: thats from the creators' logo anim
and i have seen minor errors in two places, corrupting some blocks for a few
secs (somewhere right before/after adbreaks i think)
