pay for individual show so at least the ratings and money goes to the right initiatives. we are forced to support products we don't use. sure advertise the products but stop trying to shove sport down my throat and shit. |

i do not watch the two shows you refer to but i'd hazard a guess that their budgets are nothing in realms of deadwood, rome, nor john adams (typically the type of programs they contact isps over), so i can understand why they do give a shit about some shows more than others. but i also know that if the execs really put their heads into it, they could find a way to make the p2p system work for them ... i dunno thru advertising, subscriptions, or whateva. there is no denying that the torrent system works and its unknown territory for some people in the industry who are too old and stubborn to change their ways. inevitably they will be left in the dust or die out anyway, of this i am sure ... so its only a matter of time before things sort themselves out for the better. i must have my rose coloured glasses on today because i'm usually more pessimistic about how the world is gonna turn out ... mind you i'm still waiting for john titor's predictions to pan out - it's 2008 - crunch time! certainly i've got plenty of pessimistic stuff i could add to the discussion about us politics and the hypocrisy of the bush regime when considering those words written within the declaration of independence... but i don't think i have the energy today. |

i have a funny feeling hbo doesn't want to stop "piracy." there's a certain price-setting value to sustaining the myth that "pirates" represent a real and signifigant loss. if they do just enough to appear to be "combatting" the problem, they can justify higher rates to their subscribers, without it being "their" fault. "we'd love to lower our rates, but our efforts to stop the 'pirates' (who are stealing what you, the honest consumer, pay for with your hard-earned money) is expensive!" it's amazing what you can get people to pay for, if you create and promote the illusion of an undocumented threat. |

yup it has been know to happen, that is what they are citing when contacting the isp also your suggestion is good, and pretty reliable imho here is a quick guide to bittorrent + tor: wiki.torproject.org/noreply/theonionrouter/torifyhowto/bittorrent it is quite easy, and the speed is fine as long as the "use proxy for peer to peer connections" is kept unchecked. nothing is guaranteed but it will decrease exposure of your ip address |
