they took the uk script...and cut out all the lines that were light or witty.
the lead actor's a robot.
ray carling was just embarrassing.
ugh.

indians are only called asians in the uk, but in north america, oz and nz they
are not called or considered asians.
nor should they be as everyone else called asian looks pretty much the same
(korean, vientamise, jap, chinese, malaysian etc...) but indians are a totally
different race. (well except for the little detail that all humans are
considered to be too similar to be anything but a single race on scientific
grounds)
just because thats how it is doesn\'t mean its right. the other english nations
many not consider them to be asian, but it doesn\'t change the fact that
they are asians, as asian is not an actual ethnic group(ask
japanese, chinese and koreans if they are all the same). its in the same vein
that people from the usa are not the only \"americans\", brazilians, cubans and
canadians are all just as much \"american\" as they are all from the american continents.
and i am from the usa if that matters at all.

i just can't wait to see how bad they'll fuck up outrageous fortune, a show
originally from new zealand.
why can't amerikan networks just import the real original version? it's not like
they speak a foreign language in nz, oz or in this case, the uk.

but that might trigger panic upon seeing other people speaking english in a
different way, using different currency and having a different culture.
americans are raised believing that nothing exists beyond them or their borders.
they can't even find themselves on a map in most cases. the networks know that
difference breeds fear, so they must make their own versions of these shows,
whether they were successful in a foreign market or not. especially since
domestic creativity in the us is dead.

i've heard that they're recasting everyone except jason o'mara.
so even if you
don't like this version, you may like it better when it actually airs.
yup, leaked was the scrapped version.
good riddance.

truly bloody awful. miscast , wrong location . and kelley washing his hands of
it doesnt bode well either. complete rethink needed methinks . makes me wonder
if there is any real point in remaking a classic tv series if you cant really
do it justice!!

so let me ask you does that make you just a north american, or someone from
germany or italy just european? asia is a huge continent, and because we
mashed the black population together through slavery and have no clue where they
are from, we call them africans, now the next group mashed together is asian?
are we really that lazy to not recognize the cultural differences? how do you
think any brit or an american will feel when they are mashed into the
continental label system?
but on to more important things.....this rendition needs to head to the fire.
it was the worst television i have seen. the de-humanized the lead character,
made the relationship with his love antagonistic and tried to turn him into
robo-cop. i love colm, but i disagree, he is just not a "bully" and i do not
think he can pull off the gene hunt role. you really need someone who can pull
off asshole in the big way. comments about kelly, well i all i can tell you is
what i heard, he spent months writing and scripting this episode. we sat and
watched it, a few line changes, very few and he might as well have photocopied
the script. we cut the slack for the lighting quality or wires exposed, that is
understood here on a screener, but overall the production values were poor. to
justify the comments, we own a company that does documentary film production for
tv. i hope they can rescue it. i think the premise needs to be kicked up to a
federal level so that they can re-locate him to another city, fbi us marshals
something, we need to believe that he has just arrived somewhere new, it is all
new and strange to him, but was his childhood home. burn it, do it right and
bring it online for a mid-season program.
imho they will never capture the brit version, but they can make it so it
appeals to the northam market. i know how i felt when they closed down lom uk,
and ashes is a different vehicle which funny enough my wife has connected with
more (go figure, female lead).
