well i gave up on sgu at episode 9, but a few folks claimed 10 was the best yet so i watched it. sorry still disappointed in the show. i don't get all the criticism of rush though, he's the only character that makes sense and is doing what you would expect under their cicumstances. heck he's the only real stargate character, willing to explore, thinks people have to take chances, doesn't think everything needs to be all secretive... he's not dead or gone from the show, that is all too obvious, a blind, deaf, coma patient could figure that one out. speaking of blind deaf coma patients, no doubt the show will have one of those soon to be in keeping with the soap themes. |

what was the name of that star trek series again where they had a spaceship millions of miles away from getting back to earth after getting a shocking teleport to some distant place? at least that was my thought when i saw the first few parts of this series; a bad copy of star trek voyager. but i must say that this number 10 is the first movement into a little more positive direction for the series. |

the stones always give me the impression that lots of people on earth want to use these to plot their own little schemes. i don't have problems with the stones being available, they just shouldn't be allowed to be used like that. i'm still "waiting" for the ep where someone from destiny decides he wants to stay on earth. that ep is bound to show up at some point as well, so lets get over with it. i think we already had the case of an earth guy not caring about the body he's in on destiny, although we might have to bear with another one of that kind as well. as for the autopilot, i surely hope they'll turn it off eventually. remember how they completely cut off atlantis in the first season, and established regular contact with earth later on? same here. without the autopilot they are still stranded billions of light years away, so it doesn't really change anything. they still don't have the power or capabilities to supercharge a gate, so no change there either (although they might need to come up with a reasonable explanation why they don't just land on a suitable planet and concentrate on fixing the power stuff). it won't kill the show, but open it up for more stories. |

yeah, he isn't, somehow he will probably get into the ship that was on the planet which will miraculously have power (or a way of getting power) and he will fly back.... somehow. [episode 14 - human] "the episode focuses on rush, who risks his life in an experiment involving the ship's computer, and flashes back to the time when he was recruited into the stargate program. his now dead wife, gloria rush, will appear in these flashbacks, as will michael shanks as daniel jackson. this episode was originally entitled "lucid"." ~ although im not sure of the accuracy it has been right every other time. episode 8 was stupid, they didn't give a clear ending and somehow the next episode everyone was alive with no mention of the planet with the aliens on it. even if they somehow found the kino it doesn't explain how they miraculously got rid of the bacteria from the ice or managed to catch the alien that could cure it. anyways its not like they are going to change it mid-season as its already been planned and so forth, but hopefully they do make it more interesting and less predictable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_stargate_universe_episodes ![]() |

i was a huge sg1 and sga fan. i understand that they had to cut sg1 out, it was getting a bit old, the actors were tired and the story was stretching a bit thin. even though they upgraded the series with new characters, it was just time to put it to an end. this, in my poor opinion, is also what led sga to its death. it was cut off from its mother series and had to stand alone. the wraith story was great, but it had to stop at one time, and there would be no good reason to keep sga alive without the wraith, they were there at the beginning, they had to be the end. and now, around the same time sga is canceled, we learn that there will be another spin-off, sgu. i just cannot tell you how many times i was looking to the destiny sketches present on wikipedia. i was thrilled to have stargate back, and i was sure it had to be great. let's face it, it started ok, introducing ellie, dr rush, etc. but it soon got a bit boring. it took them about 6 episodes just to get the ship working, and even then, they have food problems, insubordination problems, and that's just the top of it. i mean, look at it, i want neither a remake of sga, nor a new bsg. the "drama" part is to much for me. i can accept that their situation is dire, but don't come and tell me that there is nothing going right up there! they have brilliant characters, rush as an egocentric megalomaniac mad scientist, young as the patriotic soldier, and ellie as the boy genius. with the rest of the cast, you can make something great. bsg was not a sci-fi series. it was a space opera about mankind brought to its end by its own creation. you just can't change the story a bit and ask us to like it. sgu is like nothing we ever saw. it's not star trek, it's not sg, it's not bsg, but not in a good way. the firs thing to do is to give the crew and end game, and the means to do it! now they are just adrift, patching their wounds and waiting to see what awaits them on the next stop. my advice for the writers would be to light up a bit, and to give a reason to that travel. otherwise, it's nothing but a bad mix of star trek voyager and bsg! p.s. excuse me for my english, i am not a native speaker! |
