i watch everything that i dl through a portable dvd player hooked up to my main
tv. i don't have to burn anything to disk because my player has a usb
port....so all i do is put the show on a jump drive and watch.

recently i had a problem with this episode [lost s03e12 hdtv xvid-caph]. after
about 10 seconds of playing it just stops and my player resets. i downloaded
other torrents of the same episode but the exact same thing happens at the same
point in the show... it plays fine on the computer. got a new jumpdrive
(thought maybe it was dying) but other shows and other episodes of lost play fine.

anyone else run into this problem???

any ideas???

actually got it by accident. i was just looking for a region-free protable dvd
player. found a cheap one on ebay. usb was a surprise and bonus that i found
out about after i received it! also plays just about every dvd/vcd format.

seller is hitekgear and it is self branded...which i am assuming means he just
imports them from some cheapo far eastern country.

i haven't seen any other like it...and i have been looking!!! wanted to get a
set-top box that had it if avaliable.

the caph-rls had problems(and were nuked because of that) with many dvd-players
just so you are aware of it 🙂. maybe you should try another rls?

i had two philips players; both died after about a month. they were annoying
anyway as they wouldn't play avi's with packed bitstreams. (whatever they are!)
i did like the slot-loading mechanism though.

my current player is a toshiba, nearly a year old and still working! it plays
around 98.3% of the stuff i've tried so far with no problems. [ok i made up the
% but you get the point 😉]

the toshiba is limited in what resolution avi files it can play though, i really
want a player that can handle the better quality hrhd rips that are being
released now. a usb port would be great too, would save hours of dvd burning!

:canyonvr

those portable players look quite tempting. do you know the maximum resolution
of the avi's they can play? i found similar ones on ebay in the uk but can't
see any that go into that much detail about divx/avi playback.

edit: i have seen a couple of home dvd players with usb1.1. comments said they
had jerky playback but didn't specify whether this was due to the speed of the
usb port or it just being a bad player!

edit edit: oops, just realised it was mpeg2/vob playback that was jerky not mpeg4!

could any of you wise ppl out there please help me with a problem iam having,
ive been through all the forums to see if anyone else has had this problem
before i posted this but couldn\'t find anything

here it is: i use nero7 and the cole2k codec pack have been using it for ages
to watch and burn d/ls to dvd without a problem but a few months ago my d/ls
wouldn\'t play or burn in sync the audio is way ahead of the video but it
doesn\'t happen with all the d/ls it started with
house.s03e11.hdtv.xvid-xor.avi
and has been on all eps of house since, all my d/ls will play fine on vlc
player the problem is only with some videos and nero. ive updated the codecs &
nero since it started but that didn\'t help, any ideas what i could do?

if not then can anyone reccommend any other software they use to make and burn
dvds like nero?

i use one of these to play videos using a usb fash drive the video files play very well but i have only tested
it with a 350 i do not know if hr-hdtv work on this player.

there is two seperate models this one dn100h (the one i got) witch i believe you can only get in australia.
and this one you can only get in the uk dnx190uh.

i do not know if lg make any kind of models in the us that support divx play back of usb flash drives.

lg

if you google the model number you should find a few good topics about this model dn100h tinyurl.com/

thanks for all the info so far, it'd be so much easier if i could use my pc
instead! (not currently possible unless i get some gear to stream media over
electricity cables.)

i found quite a bit of info here:
http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=73
(check the post dates though as i spent ages reading stuff from 2005 before i
noticed.)

this player seems to be the one everyone wants:
http://www.ziova.com/cs505.php

i don't think it's available yet but haven't done much checking... google time!

looks good but would i need a set-top box/dvd player with an ethernet port to
receive the signal to play on my tv? that may end up being too expensive!

no ethernet port on my tv [just checked] or my dvd player. ☹️
that apple tv thing is quite tempting, i'd forgotten they were making that. my
birthday is coming up soon so may have to start begging 😉

edit: just found some more detailed info on the apple tv...

mpeg-4: up to 3 mbps, simple profile with aac-lc audio up to 160 kbps (maximum
resolution 720x432 @ 30 fps)

shame really, it looked quite good otherwise!

i have a creative zen vision w which i use to connect to my tv and i have the
same problem, but i have had the problem before with bleach anime from
dattebayo(though i can run other anime like death note fine). it runs the usual
lost cappers versions like lol, i think caph didn't do a clean encode coz i dont
see a difference in quality.

i just went and checked between a notv and that caph episode and the audio is
different, notv is 128kbps n caph is 132kbps,notv works, caph doesn't, so that
might be the problem.. dunno. i'll be happy as long as caph doesnt release again
or they fix their encoding.
