lost s03e12 hdtv xvid-caph was encoded with an audio/video interleave of 15
frames. most other avis have this set to 1 frame.

the interleave setting determines how the file arranges the audio and video
data. with a setting of 1 frame, you get pic#1 and its sound, pic#2 and its sound.

in caph's file, you get 15 pictures before you get their sound, then another 15
and their sound.

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvaaaaaaaaaaaa

this makes the file 0.3% smaller but many standalones can't play it because they
haven't enough memory to store 15 pictures, so they freeze up.

you can use virtualdub to reorder the video and audio data. make sure you
select video => direct stream copy otherwise you end up with gigabytes of
uncompressed video. virtualdub defaults to interleaving=1frame.

caph should change his avi encode to interleave at each frame.

caph is not the normal release group for lost, get the xor realease you know its
gonna be quality.

there is no 'normal' release group, it's called racing for a reason.
